They are not that far apart in hp and the Z has a big weight advantage over the thunder cat.

Lets see who the fastest around a track is, which is what the Z06 is for.

It should be a closer race than that... but remember there are heat saturation issues with Z06, and the hellcat is just plain fast. The gearing is probably a big factor as well, which will help that 60 to 120ish. Not taking anything away from the HC because it's def holding it's own right now.

Lol nothing more legit then highway racing!
Zo6 would kill a Hellcat just about everywhere, now a straight away starting at 70mph? Maybe not I guess (maybe it's a torque thing, or maybe the Hellcat is modded, or maybe the Zo6 driver doesn't know what the hell he's doing) but who cares? The second the Hellcat needs to stop or turn it's done. I'm really curious to see how the Zo6 stacks up to the GT3, GTR and Z/28 |

What I can't figure out is why didn't it anilate a base Stingray and the ZL1 way back three months ago when it lined up against them?

The rolling start does not prove anything. The hell cat clearly goes 1st. It can also come down to gear selection at take off that puts one car in the sweet spot and not the other. Back in the day my friend and I had the same 396 but in different cars. I would win on roll starts and he would win on standing starts because I would go up in smoke because my car was lighter.

Some specifics on the particular video, the Z06 was loosing traction on every pull, he couldn't keep the wheels hooked up, i.e. breaking it loose in 2nd and 3rd gear. They had just spent time on a drag strip where the Z06 handled the Hellcat pretty handily and were having traction issues there as well. This is verbatim from the Z06 driver.
As for lap times, the Z06 is going make some waves this spring and summer as more hit the track. Here's the latest from VIR, new track record beating everything, including Porsche 918.... |

Wow the base Stingray continues to impress I mean it's like right on the the heels of some very nice cars on a course and the strip.

+1 For the "Z06" requiring a driver mod. It didn't really sound like it was working all that hard, but the Hellcat was working pretty hard. Not sure it's a Z06 though, the spoiler doesn't look right. Who cares if the fender tags said Z06, there have been plenty of V6's on here called out with SS and ZL1 badges on them.

Whoever has the most HP/driving skill will win just about any race from a roll. Considering the hellcat made 680 some odd RWHP(when motortrend put it on a dyno) with the slushbox transmission it has a shit ton of HP to play with.
From a standing start on a strip or on a track the Z06 runs away from the Hellcat everytime. |
