How far do you drive for E85?
I'm itching to get my SS to run E85. Closest station is 65 miles away though, and not in a direction I'd normally drive.
Got me wondering, how far do you guys drive to get it? |

1 mile.
Another one at 2.6 miles. With that setup, it became kind of a mandatory mod. |

145miles... I live in Key West. Nearest one is one my way to Miami for weekends haha. Needless to say, I don't bother trying to fill up for the return trip home >_>.

Out here in Texas where I am there is E85 everywhere now thanks to Stripes gas stations. I fill up on my way to work or out of town 10 miles away from home.

Unless you have a close station the conversion isn't really worth it. Especially when you consider how much less per tank you can get.
The power is great though. |

There are lots of e85 stations in Omaha. Some guys want e98 and that isn’t nearby. They take fuel barrels and and truck and pick up 200gallins at a time and then just pump from the barrels. I am happy with the local e85 but if I couldn’t get it easily I would get some drums and drive where I needed to to buy it and just store it at home like the e98 guys do. $2/gallon race fuel is hard to beat.

Even if you burn more the cost difference still gives the edge to E85 at around 3-4 dollars per tank. When you factor that E85 here is 2.25 a gallon and premium fuel(yes you have to use premium not regular) at 3.54 a gallon it still ends up being cheaper to run E85. Now if you were driving a flex fuel vehicle that can run 87 octane which is currently 2.70 a gallon...its cheaper to just run 87. The basic formula is that e85 needs to be 1.00 a gallon cheaper then whatever pump fuel you run for it to be worth while from a economic standpoint.

I have a station 2 miles from my house that has E85. It's the only one around in my area. My GF runs it in her Silverado- it has flex fuel option.
