Shifter rattle

Anyone else getting a small rattling from the shifter? When in 3k+ rpms?
Only seems to rattle in the top numbers
1,3,5 gears

I'm thinking something is loose. But I have no idea how to open it to see. I guess taking it to the dealer is my only option. I just don't want anyone driving my car.
Any thoughts?

I thought I was the only one. Weird if you push up on the shifter, the rattle stops.

I am having the same issue with mine. The rattle doesn't sound like it's coming from the shift lever itself but applying gentle forward pressure on the stick temporarily silences it.

I brought the car to the dealer, and they performed the procedure described in TSB 16-NA-078, but unfortunately it had no effect.

Has anyone had any luck diagnosing/solving this issue?

I have that too!!!! I thought it was just me! I told my dealer about it and they simply said that sometimes it's normal for cars make noises. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

I'll be following this closely.

Do the tsb procedure yourself, dont trust the dealership to do it right. It worked for me. Generous amount of blue thread locker.

Yeah, I'll give it a try. I'm a little concerned that it might be something other than the retaining screw addressed in the TSB, because mine only seems to rattle in the forward gates/positions, i.e. 1st, 3rd (especially), and 5th gears.

Do you remember if your situation was similar?

Identical, usually occurred during decel, more vibration = more rattle.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll just have to perform the TSB procedure myself since the dealer apparently failed to

Yep, just pop up the surrounding trim around your shifter. Locate the lock screw on the driver's side where the shifter handle connects to the shifter. Use a torx wrench to remove it, apply lock tight, re-install it... Can be done in about 2 minutes. I had the exact same sound. Not normal.
Now there are some normal sounds you can hear through the shifter obviously.

I did this procedure on mine and it fixed my issue too!!! It was rattling every time I was going up hill in 3rd or 5th and now its nice and quiet.

Thanks so much for the tip!! The screw did not seem loose, I never would have guessed that this was the issue.

Sorry for an old bump.

I did this TSB last night, life saver. I was so tried if the shifter rattle...worked for me perfectly.
