It's Monday. No way a dealer is going to not look at a car just towed in for an entire week. |

Yeah really...waiting that long would be totally unacceptable. I would at least hope they set you up with a rental??

1,156 posts and you call him a troll?
Does sound like an electrical problem. Weird stuff happens when alternators go bad. Let us know what the outcome is.

Never heard of a dealer saying they can't look at the car until next week, with today being a Monday.
He must live in the middle of nowhere...but in a large city with only one Chevy dealer... |

I'm in downtown Dallas, this dealership has stated they are in the top 5 on GM dealership sales in the US, which would explain the backup. No idea if that is true. I do know however that this story is true.
Yes I can get a rental, as soon as I get a ride up there. I don't mind the wait too much. I work from home so don't need to drive much during the week anyway. To make the story more ridiculous, my front door wouldn't shut normally. I had to slam it shut last night when I left it. I'm thinking maybe it's because there was no power to slightly crack the window, which is what normally happens when the car is operating properly. Last edited by kiteman; 10-07-2013 at 01:15 PM. |

I don't mean any harm but someone is getting a little happy with moving threads today. Just how was this not relevant in the general discussions section?

Please continue to update us on this. I hope you can find a way to appeal this decision. This definately should be covered.

Just a quick update...
This has gotten weirder for sure, I'm sure many of you will claim I'm trolling again but I swear I'm not. I went to the dealer to get a loaner today and the service guy said he started my car right up when it arrived yesterday morning. I actually drove the car home after some deliberating with him; his only other suggestion was to leave it there until the problem repeated itself, but he said that could take weeks or never happen. The only idea he had was that maybe a wire got loose/hot and shut off power, but then after it cooled the car had power. I told him not even the window would slide down a little for me to close the door and there was literally not an ounce of power available. He didn't really have any scientific suggestions. I did a little bit of info gathering I could. When I got in my car today it was 12:45pm. Everything in the car had reset, just like when you disconnect a battery. The clock read 5:00, which means it would have passed the 12:00 time at 7:45am this morning. If you work back in increments of 12 hours from there, you can figure out when the power came back to my car. That means it could have turned back on at 7:45am this morning, 7:45pm last night, 7:45am Monday morning, or 7:45pm Sunday night. I then went and looked at my phone log to see that I called my girlfriend at exactly 7:46pm on Sunday to come pick me up/jump the car. That means the car would have completely shut off only moments before that, ironically that would most likely be at 7:45pm Sunday, which is also one of those 12 hour increments I just mentioned. So basically what I'm saying is that my car was shut down for exactly 12 hours, since we also know the service guy at GM turned the car on sometime around yesterday at noon. Exactly 12 hours? A bit odd, no? I feel more and more confident this is a security thing or an Onstar thing, or this is all a really weird problem with a majorly strange coincidence included. I'm going to call Onstar this afternoon. I tried them yesterday but I couldn't manage to ever speak to a representative since I do not have an active account. What do you guys think? Honestly I was a bit scared of driving my car home and thought it might seize up on me again. Last edited by kiteman; 10-08-2013 at 01:08 PM. |
