Convertible Radio Reception
My reception seems to be bad in my conv. Stations fade in and out easily and often. Anybody else seem to notice this or is it me?

Interesting that you say that because I was just thinking the something yesterday. I have only noticed it on XM though. Any trees seem to lock he signal. I have 2other vehicles with XM and they don't have that problem.

Same for me with XM. I'm not going to renew. I wonder if I can remove the little shark fin.

I only have it with XM, but I think everyone does. I have no problems with regular AM/FM reception.

Oh you are all so right, only XM, and I just paid for another year.
My wife's Venza gets reception almost everywhere but my convert is in and out reception all the time! Thanks everyone, my wife thinks I'm crazy so now I can show her it's not just my imagination. Gio |

My wifes Traverse has terrible Xm also. I have zero issues on my Explorer which is Sirius. Im thinking its either an XM vs Sirius thing or a Chevy satellite radio issue.

Sirius and XM radio merged last year and are one in the same. Monopolies are never as good as when they were separate competitors to one another. I have the X in 2 GM cars, never an issue. If I was to make a (WAG) it's in the sharkfin transponder signal surface not being big enough.

+1 on the lousy Sirius/XM reception...
Ever since I loaded up a flash drive with a ton of albums, I hardly ever use the radio.

I had reception difficulties with XM in my Saturn Aura XR, Saturn Sky Redline and with the Camaro 'vert, as well, when driving in areas where there are (more densely) wooded areas close to the roadside.
I checked with XM a few years back due to my concerns that there might be a problem with my radio(s) and was told there needs to be a fairly unobstructed line of sight between the vehicle antenna and the satellite. I'll add that even driving toward the entrance to the base on which I work, there are wooded areas on both roadsides for about 200 yards and I'll often get faded reception or lose reception completely until I've cleared the area. Based on my experience(s) with 3 new, late model vehicles, I'd have to say this is "normal". I seriously doubt that it has anything to do with the GM radios, themselves. If, however, you're experiencing fading / reception drop-outs in unobstructed areas, there should NOT be these problems.

I'm not sure I agree. I have a Suburban and a Traverse and have no problems traveling the same exact roads. I personally believe it is the antenna.

The only time my XM reception has a problem is when the cars in a metal building like either the storage locker I keep it in during Winter, and when I take it to the local $1.50 car wash.

Interesting... I renewed the XM once and haven't since... I prefer to stream internet radio or my USB...
But- my FM reception SUCKS! I lose signal/static consistently on the largest station in my area- never had this problem before; only in the vert.
