No sound on PDR videos with Mac
Greetings all...
I recently discovered a problem with PDR videos on a Mac. The video is fine, but there is no audio. After searching, it turns out our own TSloper found and fixed this problem over on the C7 forum. I hope he doesn't mind that I post it here for ZL1/1LE folks who might run into the same issue. 1. VLC -> File -> Convert/Stream 2. Open media... -> <select your PDR .mp4 file> 3. Select 'Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)' profile 4. Click 'Customize...' 5. Video codec -> check 'Keep original video track' 6. Audio codec -> check 'Keep original audio track' 7. Click 'Apply' 8. Chose your destination location and filename 9. Click 'Save' http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ This worked for every video I tried. It also fixes the video for anything loaded into the cloud that you want to playback on your phone, ipad or AppleTV.

Thanks for posting, haven't used PDR yet, but this would have driven me nuts trying to figure out what is wrong.

Never had an issue with my MacBook Air other than not being able to run the Cosworth Toolbox natively on the OSX platform and attempts to encapsulate it and .NET didn't work either.. Just finally tossed VirtualBox and WinX and did a passthrough folder from host to guest for the tool box stuff.. The video can get a little choppy inside the VM, but that's a non issue for me as I just use it for lap times and telemetry.

What is a VLP? Do you think that will fix the audio issue?

VLC -- Video LAN Client (old), but that's where the C comes from... Though, it's just called VideoLAN these days..
VLC is usually pretty solid at being able to play pretty much anything, minus some more obscure formats -- but, you can usually drop in the right CoDecs and ref them and it'll be fine. You can do all manner of other neat things with Video, Audio, subtitles, etc. I use it for a lot of things where other tools fail.. Now, it's not always the most user friendly interface, but it's powerful and searching for VLC or VideoLAN + whatever the issues is, usually gives solid results. For MacOSX the current full direct link is : https://get.videolan.org/vlc/2.2.6/macosx/vlc-2.2.6.dmg |

Open the video in VLC and then open the media information and make sure what the audio track is saying and if it's saying anything. I think it's CMD + I while the video is playing. What I would recommend then is to upload the file to YouTube in private or unlisted mode and let it fully process. Then click on the playback to see if you hear audio then. This will help narrow down a problem with VLC specifically, a missing codec, a borked up MP4 from your PDR, etc. |

First thing is to check the incar settings but I think it is good as when I do playback I hear it all.
