competition mode in automatic
I am still waiting on my Camaro to come in. It will be an L99 auto. Will it have competition mode, and if so, what would it actually do? I know what it does for a manual.

How is that different than traction control (which it also has, right?)?

After reading through the manual (yikes), it appears this is only for manual transmissions...

Competition mode I believe is a part of the Stabilitrack system. To activate it you hit the TC button twice which turns off traction control and lowers the constraints set by stabilitrack by allowing the rear tires to slide out a bit more. Hold the TC button for 7-8 seconds and everything is off, ie. stabilitrack of and TC off.
The only thing the TC button will effect at the track is the launch, it is recomended to press the TC button twice at the track to turn off TC and keep the car in competition mode so the rear tires to don't break loose forcing you into the wall....which has already been done (see youtube).

One point about competion mode is since ST (Stabilitrack) is off and if you hit a wet patch down track you could end up in the wall ... ST is there to help save that slippery situation. If you are sure the track is clean then go for comp mode... this will leave TC on so you don't spin your tires on launch |

the way i do it depends on track conditions. if the track isnt prepped very well... i back in the water box and hold the button down and turn every assist off and do my burn out. then pull up to the line and put the car in competitive mode (push the button twice). if the track is hooking good the i turn every assist off and do my burn out and do my pass with no assist.....thats just me. i cut pretty good 60ft time on a stock converter and street tires.

Competition mode allows a manual to push the throttle to the floor, but prevents it from red lining. This allows the driver to concentrate on the launch timing and dumping the clutch, and not balancing the needle.
