HID Headlights Question

Hello Fellow Camaro Owners,
I had a fender bender a few weeks back, My right headlight had to be replaced. I have a 2010 2SS, and I noticed my left and right side headlights don't match. Left side inner lens has a small clear dot and no shutter, and the right side inner lens has no dot and a shutter. I bought the car used 4 years ago. I would like the one that doesn't have the shutter for my right side, does anyone know the item # to order these?

Thank You
DJ Jimi

Hi,

This is the only Right Head Light OEM one I could find

http://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/gm...-92240994.html

There is a thread to look at the light

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1598290

Good luck and might want to do some more research before buying since they are not cheap.

Thanks,
Kevin

It seems that the GM # has been replaced with #20981022, which i assume is the one with a shutter inside lens, looking for the older part number that doesnt have the shutter only an alignment dot on lens

What do you mean with a shutter? This headlights are bi-xenon, which means they will have a cut off shield that will be up for low beam, and down for hi. Unless that is what you are referring to as shutter, and the one is stuck open.

In the pictures u linked are the ones that i have, if u look closely, u can see a clear dot in the lens. On the new headlights that was installed on mine, it doesnt have that dot and it has a metal type bar on inside lens. They do not match with each other from left and right headlights.

Post pictures of yours. The one with the dot may be the old style, but, depending on the body shop, someone might had gotten a set of cheap ebay lights and saved some money for beer instead of buying an OEM light.

I currently at work, do not have pictures yet. Bodyshop also thinks its the old style and gm replaced it with new style. Bodyshop is working with insurance to find old style to put on.

What body shop in SA did you go to? You may ask them if they will authorize you to get both lights if they can't find a matching pair.

They are working with insurance to get other side headlight to match. Due to all the hail storm claims, everyone is booked. Went with a body shop called Down at Deanos. Recommended from co workers. I would let them install the old one, just the small clip on top that is broken only. Do you think that will still be ok to install?

Sorry, I just re-read my posts. To be clear, only the right side headlight was the new one. Left side headlight was original which is the old style with dot. New headlight on right side has the bar inside the lens area, left side doesn't.

If it's a chip, not a crack you should be fine, but I would rather have a new set installed if the insurance is going to cover it.
