More money to maintain V8 over V6?

Planning on upgrading one day from a 1LTRS to a 1SS 1LE and was wondering if maintenance usually cost a whole lot. Example would be like the brakes and rotors I would assume cost a whole lot more to replace. I'm just trying to get the info before making the change

Nothing "cheap" about owning an SS. Premium gas, 8 quart synthetic oil change. 1LE tires. Insurance rate depending on your age. A lot to consider before you make the jump. If you plan to get 25mpg don't spend the money, you won't be having enough fun with the car.

Not to worried about gas I don't even get 16 now in my V6. Insurance was not huge 6 to 8 quart oil change not to much of a difference. I already use premium gas, 1LE tires might be the expensive part

LOL!!!!! What Da Mammer stated! I absolutly love my 1LE, BUT you will want more. The 1LE Is amazing to drive compared to the 2SS. I know cause I have a 2010 IOM 2SS and when the 2010 was purchased I thought it was a fantastic, fun car to drive, until I bought my 1LE. So far my 1LE has $15,000 in upgrades and I'm not done. Why, cause I want more. This car is addicting. It's a track car that u can drive everyday if you want. If you want to grin ear to ear everytime you look at it, get one. If you want a rush everytime you drive it get one, but if you want to save money, don't get one. Good luck in your decision .

I don't think a V8 GenV of any flavor costs that much more to maintain. The LS series of engines and TR6060 have been around a while so parts are not that expensive if something does break. V6 parts are probably just as much. I know one guy looking at a V6 clutch was looking at a lot more to replace the stock unit than if he had a V8.

I'm not sure if there is any reliability difference between a 6 and an 8 car, but my guess is if anything it favors the 8s.

Now when it comes to using it for what you bought it for, that will cost a good bit more. More gas, more tires, bigger tires, trinkets to add HP, it never ends. Best advice I have on keeping costs down is stay out of the classifieds and don't read build threads.

Tire costs will be the biggest difference. I have the same size wheels as a ZL1 and 1LE and tires cost around $400-$450 pair for front and $500-$550 for the rear set. Then mounting, balancing, and taxes. Easily about $1,100+ for tires now lol

The only thing that I've noticed being more expensive about owning an SS is the premium gas and fuel mileage

Even my insurance is around $70 a month for full coverage, so that's not bad at all.

I use the Premium now really only about $4.00 more each visit.

I don't see why there would be that huge a difference. Few dollars more on oil change. Don't spin your ties a lot and they'll last you a good while and use the brakes properly and they'll last as well. If you're looking at hot rodding around and racing though, yeah make sure you have a deepened pocket.

I think tires will be your biggest expense ($1100 or so). We daily drive our 1LE, and have put 24,500 on it since June of 2013. I know many on here have the "mod bug" as they call it. It has not bitten us, and our car, outside of new tires at about 15K miles is as it was when we bought it. That being said, I could not be happier with the car. It has many features (satellite radio, blue tooth, incredible handling and looks) that were new to us, and that may be why the "mod bug" has not hit us. This is also not the most powerful Camaro we own, so that may have something to do with it as well. I recommend making the move.,,,you will not regret it.

so about every 15,000 miles you would say I need new tires
