Time is short,who's confirmed-SILVERSTATE?

First things first, MOD'S please dont move this thread. There have been many that have expressed interest over the last few years that i have talked about this event, and the only way to reach them all is thru the main part of the forum, thank you.

So as i said i have talked about this wonderfully fun event many times over the last few years, and it would be great to have a Camaro5 turn out for the Sept event, that's why im writing this now to give you guy's plenty of time to plan this. People come from ALL over the country to run this event, as well as from other countries. The only thing you need is a SA2005 or newer helmet, your OEM seat belts, a fire extinguisher and metal valve stem caps. If you dont have a helmet i will post a link at the end of this thread where you can get one at a reasonable price.

As i have ran this event 5 or 6 times i am now in the Grand Sport class in the 140 MPH class. My speed limit or "TECH" speed is 165 MPH Your tech speed is the maximum speed you are allowed to run in this class. The class you all will have to start out in is the Touring class, with your "TECH" speed of 124 MPH you can either run the 95, 100, 105, 110 class. These are the speeds you want to average over the 90, public closed highway course. As i have read over the years some have never been 100 MPH yet, believe me it's no big deal, the reason i bring this up is for the those that want to run this event but dont want to drive 100+ you dont have to. You do have to at least maintain no slower then 30 MPH under your target speed, so in the 95 the slowest you may go is 65, in the 100, it's 70 ETC.

As this will be your 1st time you will need to take the new racer school which is held in Vegas the Thur. before the event, at Las Vegas speedway, (it's no big deal)which will be Sept, 15th. From there you can either stay in Vegas and drive up to ELY on Fri, or leave with their caravan after the school. Fri night we all meet at the high school and we go thru a parade of all these smoken hot cars thru ELY, the town turns out for this event and the street is packed with people. Then it's the welcome party, food and drink. Sat. AM it's the car show in the park, after that the afternoon is yours. Sat. night the drivers meeting then up very early for the police escort to the staging area. After the race for those that want then it's back to Vegas for the awards banquet, and a 1st class dinner.

Before anyone gets nervous because this is called a "RACE" you are NEVER next to anyone at anytime, there is no risk of anything happening to your car. At the end of this thread i will post my whole (38:00)race from Sept of 2015 you will never see another car. You V6 guy's dont think twice about running this event, your car has MORE then enough power, in fact i ran the Grand Touring class in mine. I ran the 125 class with my tech speed of 140, came in 5th. If you have ever dreamed about having the whole road to yourself, well join me in Sept.

The 1st pic is my V6 when i had it, the 7th pic is the start. When you actually think about what is beyond that banner it's pretty damn cool. 90 miles on a public (hwy 318) highway, and the road is all yours.

Here is the link to Silverstate http://www.sscc.us/default.aspx#

Here is a link for a helmet, you can get them all over, but this is already at your finger tips. http://www.saferacer.com/auto-racing-helmets
You can get a fire extinguisher here http://www.summitracing.com/?gclid=C...CFcYlgQodLdgJ-

Thanks for putting this out. A neighbor has already talked to me about it &, if I go, I'll be taking my Corvette. Unfortunately, I have a family event I'm trying to work around before I commit.

Is it one run and done or do you get multiple runs in the day? I see its at least 38 minutes or more but just curious as I have never participated in this kind of event. Not sure I can commit to this year but looks like a blast.

Cornerspeed92, what harness bar are you using? The B-K? Looks like a handy spot for the fire extinguisher too.

I've never ran the race as a driver, but have been a Navigator.

Yes, its one run. Its a 90 mile run, each car is started about 1 minute apart, and you run the closest to your speed. The winner and 2nd place can be the difference of 1/100 of a second in time and same in speed.

It a fun weekend. Get to meet a bunch of cool people, see awesome cars.

There is even the "Hooker's Choice Awards" at the local bar/brothel.
