The vert also does not get the brake ducts that the coupe does.

The GT is more like the SS, and the Ford PP option is like the 1LE option As for the Mustang GT, where's the diff cooler and trans cooler, it has smaller wheels and ties all around, HUD, PTM and the all the other modes, mag ride etc. |

Agreed. The Camaro SS outperforms the Mustang GT with PP in all performance tests, whether it is straight line or around a track. The 1LE with all its track optimized hardware is at a totally different level than the GT.

Nevertheless....the Mustang GT is a cheap V8 car to sell to the masses...old-school sort of formula...big engine, cheap car...nothing special. The performance pack is an attempt to rectify that nothingness for those who want better handling...but it doesn't deliver on the same level as the standard-equipment on an SS. |

Also, look at the recent past, on the gen5 it was the 1LE Vs GT w/PP Vs Challenger SRT, those competed directly and tested against each other, even though the gen5 z/28 would beat them all, or even the ZL1. Just because the GM vehicles out perform the Ford product on a track, doesn't mean they should moved up a class in comparison. If it was just performance you could compare the 1LE against a Aston Martin DB9. When the z/28 comes out it will compete against the GT350R, as it does now. |

If you look past the performance numbers you still get better overall tech and hardware. Direct injected LT1, Tremec 6060 rev matching 6 speed manual or quicker shifting 8 speed auto, aluminum chassis, Brembos on all 4 corners standard, extra cooling for the track, run flat tires (cost more), dual mode exhaust, optional Mag ride suspension, etc. The point is you really have to move up to the GT350 to get on equal footing with the SS.

The 6 piston brakes are not worth it when the 1LE is available, but neither makes sense unless you are going to track the car regularly.
