I’m pretty chicken about jacking up my car too! I did it this past weekend, but wasn’t very comfortable with the technique I used. I’m having a pretty tough “internal battle” about whether I should just get a set of these QuickJacks and be done with it!!!!

Glad to help. The front location is circled in red and the rear is in yellow. I placed the pads in locations that eliminate interference with the jacks I used to lift the car. The pads themselves are hard to see because of reflection but they show up as kind of a light gray in the photos.

01pewterz28, you’ll see when you get underneath that there really is only one way to get the lift points on the car.

Got these for Christmas. Unfortunately the set I have do not reach the pinch weld lift points. I have extensions on order and once I receive them I will report back.

Which model did you originally order?

I used my friends bl-7000slx quickjacks. They worked great lifting my ss so i just ordered my own set. I can also lift my little acura, and have enough capacity to lift a full size pickup.

Hmmm....that’s good to know! I didn’t think the -5000SLX or -7000SLX would work because the max lifting point spread is only 60”. On the EXT models, it’s 66”.

Thanks!

Very helpful post! Did you put anything else on the floor jack to mate up with the bolt?

Given you have a Redline I'm surprised you didn't opt for the red Z1 Add-Ons.

No, I really didn't need anything additional to access the bolts but I was very careful in placement. Moreover, the jack does not stay in the bolts long because I lower the car to stands immediately.

Your idea about the red ones is great but it's too late now! LOL

Response to Jack Question-Saddle Photos

I had a question about the type of saddles on the jacks I used to lift my Redline Vert. The question came from a Private Message, but I thought it might have enough general interest to warrant an addition to the thread, so I posted it here. I simply maneuver the jack so the bolt is centered on the jack saddle as much as possible, making sure the upraised sections of the saddle do not cause damage or scratching. One of the jacks is a Harbor Freight extended reach, and the other is a Sears 3 ton aluminum.

They do. ZL1Addons has Lift Pads for the Verts that use the pinch weld jacking location. You use those for the jack stands and you don’t need the lift pad for the jack itself because of the cross-brackets at the alternate jack point. I use a hockey puck on my floor jack.

(Sorry I don’t have any pics, but do have a link. You’ll have to select the Convertible option.)
