Tire Question

I am currently running BFG Sport Comp 2 20 inch tires on my car. They are a lot better than the stock Pirellis but still are not doing the job. My car is a 6 speed running about 480 HP and 450 TQ. What setup would you recommend?

Thanks

I have no input here, as I am still on the stock pirelli's. But I would like to know what you go to next, as I will be trying something different as well...

Would you buy another set of rims and run drag radials on them?

Yes,

I know its not the best setup but I am thinking of buying some rear stock SS rims and putting drag radials on those. Once my car gets faster, I will get a better setup. Right now I can't afford to buy 4 rims to have 18's all the way around.

Or just get a set of 18's for the rear only...

I have a set of 18' Corvette replicas with MT 305/45/18 drag radials. They were only used twice.
My car was just sold a few days ago and I don't need them any longer.
Tires were @330 a piece new and wheels @120. I would let the set go for $500. I will be posting them in the "for sale" section soon.

I'm interested. How will it work with 20's in the front and 18's in the back? I did not know you were able to do that.

Do the rims clear the brakes on the SS?

The computer does care if you run 15's to 20's, but it will throw a code if you run tires that are of significantly different sizes. My tires are .8 inches taller in back, no code. But a friend who had 28.8 in back and 27.x in front throws a code.

20" Mickey's on stock wheels are good for holding roughly 780 rwhp and going low 10's so with your power they should hold just fine until you add more hp, then you can go 18" or 17" later if it's not in your budget right now and you want to keep the same size wheels all around. look at the post titled 10.310 @ 133.97

I decided not to go with 20's due to the price of the tire. I know most people put use the 18 inch corvette or corvette replica rims. Is there a certain year that will work for our cars or will any corvette rim work?

I found a set of BFG G-Force R1 drag radials. Does anyone recommend these tires? How many passes/miles should I expect to get on a set of drag radials? My plan is to put them on and drive to the track with them.

Thanks for the help.
