1st time at the track with new car, launching issues
Hey Guys, this is my first post here so go easy on me haha. Just purchased my 2010 Camaro SS manual last week. The car is all stock and I'm still getting acquainted with it. I plan to do headers, cam and clutch this winter so I wanted to race it for a baseline before mods. I wanted to use the launch control in comp mode but with clutch to the floor, there is no rev limiter. It tachs out and doesn't go to 4200 like it should, am I missing something? So I turned traction control off, I started off with soft launches and would get some bogging when I let out the clutch too early. I aired the tires down to 26psi and practiced launching at 2000-2500, I had one good launch and then I kept blowing the tires off. I cant hear the car with stock exhaust so I was spinning and then by the time I realized it and let off it was too late. My best time was awful, 13.56 at 107 with a best 60' of 2.2. Clearly I need to work on my launches and possibly replace the original tires. Anyone have any other tips for me besides seat time and any ideas as to why my launch control doesn't appear to be working? Thanks in advance and props to the guys running 13's and below on these stock, not as easy as it looks!

Don't do launch control at the track unless you want to buy some new axles. Seat time is the best advice. Try new things

Try feathering the clutch out as you go on the gas. It is a delicate dance to find the right speed. It took me a couple years of trial and error. And every time you install mods, you start over again.
I swapped for a 4L80e. |

I didn’t know the 10’s came with launch control. Shows what I know. Hundreds of passes and never used it

Thanks for the replies guys. Apparently my launch control just doesn't work, ive followed the instructions and haven't had any luck. Car is not tuned, all stock but I just did a muffler delete so I can actually hear it when racing. I was able to score a set of weld rt-s 17x10s with 28x10.5 hoosier slicks all like new. I'm going to try and race tomorrow weather permitting. With slicks I shouldn't have any tire slip, I assume I will have to launch at a higher rpm and slip the clutch a lot more to launch good and not bog? Any other advice, should be an interesting experience. First time on slicks.

You are going to want a little slip. If you dead hook and then hop, you will be replacing parts next week. When I had slicks, I ran 14 lbs, but I have suspension and driveline upgrades. I would recommend starting around 20 lbs and increase/decrease from there.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll start and probably leave them at 20lbs. I have to drive this car home after lol

No I meant as in, I don't want to break anything running a very low pressure and launching extremely hard. I'm swapping wheels at the track but not axle shafts lol. It rained all day Saturday, looks like i'll have to test them out next year :(
