305/45/17 ET Street R is pretty much the go to for that wheel size at the track.

I switched from the M/T's to these, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hoo-18825dbr

way lighter and they hook pretty darn good! Not DOT though... I do drive them on a dry street!

That is for sure a better hooking tire then the ET street R. Just not street legal. But if track only then yeah this all day.

FYI that tire will not technically be legal to run under the new NHRA Street Legal rules (allowing you to run 9.0/150 without a cage). Supposed to be DOT tires only. If your track doesn’t care, then feel free to circular-file this message.

I ran both tires on my 16 SS, NA on the Hoosiers and also with the Magnuson 2300. They were both close but the MT was quicker in the 60 ft but the Hoosier was more mph thru the traps. More mph just because the Slick will get taller down track where the radial stays flat. Radial is more stable with a cross wind. Believe I've run both of these multiple times with different combinations. I'd run the run R myself unless you're going to do a drag pack and trailer to the track. Just my opinion. There is 100 lbs difference if you do a complete drag pack with slicks and a bias skinny up front. Drag pack with radials will save about 45 lbs.

What PSI were you running on the rears at the track and did you go skinny’s up front or did you leave the stocks? And aside from weight what is the benefit of running stocks up front as opposed to skinny’s?

If you're going to run a slick on the rear, you need to run a skinny up front and not a radial tire. If you run a drag radial you can run about 18 to 22 lbs at the track. Its been a while since I ran a slick on the rear but I think I ran about 14 to 16 lbs with the Hoosiers, you'll either need to screw them down or use Permatex High Tack Cement on the beads to keep them from spinning on the wheels. I use the Cement on the drag radials also.
