And just sayin', GM just cracked the 300 HP mark with the 2.0T with the Astra GTC Extreme.
And that has absolutely nothing with the validity of the V8 engine.

No, it does not. Another thing people apparently fail to realize is Alpha is perfectly capable of accepting a Gen V V8.

The V8 isn't an issue here. What's in question is what the base engine for the 6th gen is.

6.1 sec 0-60 in the CTS with the LTG engine. That's not too shabby.

No one said a turbo 4 has anything to do with the validity of the V8, but it may have a lot to do with the viability of the V8 in this era of increased fuel economy standards and "no loss leaders" attitudes. Do you want to pay nearly the price of a Corvette to have a V8 Camaro?

I think ATS will do 5.9 seconds to 60 with the LTG.

You have to remember, to many people on this website the Camaro history is only from 1969 to somewhere in the mid 70's, and then model year 2010+

More like just 1969 and 2010-2013.

2.8L Duramax, 4.5L Duramax, or 6.6L Duramax?

There's also the 2.0TD from the Cruze.

That's my point. Government regulations are artificially killing the V8. Instead of GM just going along with it, why not push back.

As for the price, it's heading that way.

Why should GM do the push back? You (and all the other people in America) have the right to a vote, they don't. The point is that RWD V8 cars have become a one-off vehicle because of many of reasons. Even without CAFE they would not be self sustaining in today's market place unless their sales are supported by models that will sale in greater volumes. If it takes putting the LTG in the 6th Gen to ensure we can still have a model with the LT-1 at a reasonable price then I am all for it.
