get a manual! I love mine, puts me more "in touch" with my car... Rev match will adjust your rev's to match the gear that you are downshifting to.

Get the manual. The A8 has issues.

A8 is faster accelerating. I have an A8 but only because it was a good deal and the wife hated my Mustang's clutch. I would get a manual as a first choice every time.

Automatics are good for the disabled, and lazy non-handicapped people.

Manual sounds better, looks better, is more reliable, and studies have shown manual drivers get laid more.

I've only owned manuals, when I got my 2SS I went Auto for two reasons.
1. Faster. Doubt I will ever even see the difference myself, but if part of me is buying a car for speed I want all of it.
2. I drive it every day in terrible traffic. I keep the car in manual mode and have a great time up/down shifting, car sounds great doing it. When traffic comes to a stop I drop it in drive and relax.

Same here...though now that I live in an area with no traffic, I wish I had a manual. However, with my ProCharger, I feel like the A8 is paying off even more in terms of "Faster".

Try both and then decide. This is what I did and I found the A8 very boring to drive. I fall in the category of people who does not like automatic and would not buy a car model if it's only available auto.

I can say, do not buy the A8 because it's 2 tenth faster on the 1/4 mile, unless this is what you buy the car for, the track. In real world you won't go from 0 to 115 mph often. From 40mph up to 100-110 mph you will only shift once with a manual, around 75mph and this way, the A8 do not benefit from the ratio of their 1rst gear and most of the time you will just win a race, especially if the Auto is not already in the right gear. With the manual, you can use the no-lift shift and the shift will be very very quick. The manual is very easy to shift also.

I am not saying the A8 is not faster, the A8 is faster.

One thing for sure, you will enjoy all the greatness of the manual all the time, even when you are just driving normally, all the pop, the sounds, etc.

The manual will also be more reliable, more durable and less expensive to fix. You also don't have to deal with 4 cylinder mode and this alone to me justify taking the manual.

No choice but to get a manual. The 2SS not available with the Auto.

I takes a real man to withstand ridicule from stick enthusiasts on something like V8 Camaro.

I drove stick SS, it was fun to get back into it. On certain kind of roads. But satisfaction from driving is on a sliding scale here, and auto has its own good points.

I like automation, and I embrace AFM. It's sophisticated and impressive, there is a beauty in squeezing performance and efficiency from it.

Got the manual because I love the feel of shifting. When I had a auto it just didn't feel right. My left foot would stop down and engage nothing but the floor while my right hand would try to shift into a empty space. In short, it sucked.

Same thing happened to me driving my mothers Saturn. We came up to a light and I slammed my left down on the floor and she looked at me and said whats wrong. I told her I forgot there was no clutch.

Manual or consider the a10 if/when it comes out.
The A8 paddle shift response is annoyingly slow and there have been issues.
The manual rev match is amazing, making the up and downshifting crazy smooth.
The auto is a little quicker from a dig but not from a roll.
