As long as it needs to. Its your money if you want the deal. You got to do the time.

I had leased 8 or so cars in the past 23 years. Time at the dealership total must close in on a week all in all.... LMAO

Hate that

I won't play dealer games myself. There's no sense in it.
I walked away from a dealer for just that kind of thing. The internet has forever changed car buying but some dealers haven't figured it out.

Just bought my first Camaro 4 weeks ago. It's a 2017 2SS and I love it. Found it online, called and talked to them about 10 minutes and made a site unseen agreement. Showed up at the lot the next day and left 45 minutes later with my new baby. That time includes coffee, and a car tour. Now I drove a bit from home to get what I wanted. But I had driven the car I passed on so it was down to features.

Car prices are on all the web sites and if your trading your trade is listed on the same sources they use. if they don't want to deal just move on to someone who does.

I am sorry to say it can take three hours. I buy two new cars or trucks each year and once you settle on a price it can be another two hours; time to prep car, run credit and get paperwork in order. Many times (especially on a Saturday) all delivery time slots are filled. Not to mention, the sales exec is still trying to sell cars when we want our delivered.

Over the years, once I sign a "prep sheet" with the deal listed, I will ask the Dealer to buy my Wife and I lunch at a nearby restaurant and they do it.

I would say all together about 4 hours total.
Day 1 - test drive and price negotiation - 1.5 hours
Day 2 - payment - 30 minutes
Day 3 - pick up - 2 hours

I decided last minute to add Simonize Glasscoat treatment so I picked it up the next day. What pissed me off was that I made an appointment with the salesman to pick it up and he was not there when I arrived. He had to go home for an emergency. His daughter locked herself out of the house so I waited over an hour for him to return. I realize that $hit happens but if he called me I could have easily showed up later when he returned. Obviously my time is worth $hit to him which I commented on the GM survey!

3 hours here

I pulled the trigger this past Saturday. After I looked at a few dealers I feared that I missed the boat this year on a good deal, but found one this past Saturday.

Love, LOVE, LOOOOOVE this machine! I have not stopped taking the long way around town and remote starting just to hear this thing roar.

It took me about 3 hours at the dealer, but that includes the test drive, dealing, window tinting, and detailing. The visit did not seem that long, but I think it was due mostly to the excitement as the deal closed.

Been a LONG time lurker on the site and now I'm finally a proud owner.

How Long Did it Take at the Dealership??

Less than 30 minutes

Used GM’s Shop-Click-Drive to create my offer. https://www.shopclickdrive.com/

The 2SS I wanted stickered for 49, I got it for 32.

Dealership called the next morning confirming the details. They sent videos and pictures of the car to my cell. I gave them a $2000 deposit to hold. They put a sold tag on the car. They overnighted paperwork to me, I sent it back the next day with my check. They refunded my deposit. I arrived, met people, my car was inside with a bow and my name on it. The paperwork was already on the glovebox upon arrival.

Easiest vehicle purchasing experience ever! No wasting time with the finance man. No wearing me out with endless offers. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Having your financing in order before visiting the dealership is a huge timesaver. The last several vehicles have been financed through my credit union. Not only does this save time on paperwork at the the dealer, but I find negotiations are much easier as well.

I've been very fortunate in the last few purchases. All pleasant dealer experiences. Then again, I'm one of those crazy people that actually enjoys the shopping/buying process.

Ordered my 2010 and 2016, so everything was about done when I went in to bring it home. But I would say I probably spent around two and a half hours each time at the dealership, over the course of waiting for them to be delivered.

Alright, so i ended up walking out of 2 dealerships in the past week and wasted about 2 hours total plus gas mileage and all that while i had another initial dealer looking for the SUV we really wanted. Finally they found it yesterday and was able to work the deal over the phone/online and was possibly the most painless experience with a total of about a hour at the dealer just signing papers ect. The rebates were great on it and happy to add to the family. Ride is very comfy and the Denali trim really brings this model out nicely. Just brought her home today
