FREE ANDERSON COMPOSITES HOOD $1500!

Of course you want to know what you're getting for free right?

Long story short, ordered this beautiful AC hood through Phastek. The freight company(pilot freight out of Charlotte NC) were the rudest people I've ever dealt with. Driver shows up and the hood has a 3 inch deep scratch on top and kicked in and cracked all on the underside. It could have been repaired but certainly never as it should have been.

Phastek told me to destroy it, send them pictures and they'll have AC send out another. I call AC(anderson composites) to beg them to allow me to at least ship the hood back to them as it could be repaired and it's truly a work of art. They said no, it would never meet their standards of perfection(Which I think was a good response! Shows they care about their product and reputation.)

I also asked a different freight company be used as the delivery guy told me "yeah a guy in Shelby today had two delivered and they were damaged too."

AC said it would be the same freight company.. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyways, top notch service so far from both Phastek and AC and it's not every day I get to literally destroy $1500. If Phastek/AC accepts this beyond fixing damage I will likely display it on the garage wall, it's still somewhat pretty to look at.

Also for what it's worth, these carbon hoods are strong. I jumped up and down on it, I hit it with a hammer, I hit it with a crow bar.. Bastard would not break. I finally had to take an old sign post and just stab it to death. That damage you're seeing took me 15 minutes!

That's a bummer...such a nice hood. If it's too much of a hassle for you to keep it, I'll gladly take it off your hands (;

That's because carbon fiber is stronger than steel.

Until it breaks, then there's no real repairing it. Unlike steel or aluminum.

I was referring to when you were jumping up and down on it and couldn't get it to break.

I'm confused. You're offering a carbon fiber hood for free where the majority of the damage was done by yourself letting out steam for an initial scratch it had? Glad you got a replacement, but good luck with anybody taking it off your hands now.

I suggest keeping it around for the next time it snows and jumping on top of it from a hill. You'll be the only person with a $1500 carbon fiber saucer sled -- that much is a safe assumption.

"Phastek told me to destroy it, send them pictures and they'll have AC send out another. "

they told him to destroy it, it wasnt of his own will. I think otherwise they wouldnt ship a replacement.

I believe they wanted him to destroy it so that it could not be resold.

Someone already offered me $50 + shipping for it. I'll likely use it as a garage decoration of some sort.

You could sand, prep, prime and paint that and have a nice looking lightweight hood.
