Wow, that totally sucks. I would be just sick if that was my Camaro.

Thanks for the heads up on diminished value. I'll be following up on that.

Car is still in the shop getting fixed. Probably get it back in time to put it in storage for the Winter. Man this sucks.

You need to demand to see the purchase invoices for all of the OEM parts.
I worked in a body shop for a very short time, and you'd be surprised how shady they are.

The only insurance company which demands OEM only parts is Hartford.
They will tell most people OEM was used, but most of the public can't tell OEM from made in China, unless they see the OEM parts tag.

I'm not just talking about the little mom and pop body shops, the bigger multi locations are the worst.

That is pretty impressive. Who is your insurance company? They usually all want aftermarket or used parts. I always have to argue with mine, and usually it is my dealership that comes through with price matching on OEM, not the insurance co.

I have Travelers Ins. I was with my agent when they let the shop know only OEM. If your car is less than 5 yrs old or has less than 20k miles on it they are suppose to use OEM. I have been to the shop and checked on the parts so I know what I am getting. I also let them know we want a copy of all invoices and work done. I have been a mechanic for 40+ years and they know I'll be checking their work. If not what we expected or were promised I guess we will see them in court.

Got my Camaro back from the body shop yesterday. They did a great job and it looks like new again.

Glad they fixed it up for ya. I was bumming this morning since my baby's going into winter storage tomorrow. But now I feel glad that she's gonna be perfectly preserved for the next 6months away from all the dickheads out there who can't drive.
