I was just informed by my dealership that my 2012 V6 convertible needs a new blend door. They want $2500 for this. Looks like there are people in Florida that can do this repair in 5 hours for a lot less, but I am in the suburbs near Chicago, IL. Is there anyone in the area that can do this? I am really not comfortable with doing this myself.

I think that's about what they wanted here for it. I paid my SIL $400 to do mine. He did it using the cut-out method and said it was still a big pain. Granddaughter was happy to lend him a hand as she got to drive it for a couple months afterwards.

If I unplug the Blend door it should stay in the last setting? DO I need to do it with key on or off? I believe it moves when key is turned on or off. Also unplugging it just causes you from being able to control temperature but not the settings for where the ait goes ( Defrost /floor/vent )?

I think the blend door is the temp door. There is another door to change location.
