I don't see excuses here. It looks like the SS/A8 and GT/A10/PP2/3.55/Michelin PS in drag race mode will be a drivers race. The suggestion is that you all need to calm down about your underrated, 500 HP Corvette killer until the full picture is shown from broader range of sources. Form this side of the fence it looks like your just catching up to what I've been driving to work everyday for the last two years. It’s not the game changer you think.

I've seen a few claims that no way could the GT that late model ran be stock...and that changing tire pressure meant it was no longer factory stock. Some were claiming that they had to have removed the 2lb air pump out of the trunk and possibly other items. All excuses.

PP2 isn't released until next year.

Otherwise, it sounds about right. Until we find out what times a base GT can lay down...we just don't know.

As for the being underrated...I agree, it's total BS. so far the data suggest the new GT is on par with the HP to weight ratio of the camaro, which would put it right at its advertised numbers.

And yes, the GT is just catching up. Unless the GM camp comes out with something else within the next few years, it will remain this way until the S650 comes out.

They bought the first vehicle they could. They even stated they would have like to have gotten a better version... but that was the first available. The fact that they were the first publish 1/4 mile numbers was excellent planning...as they had a dragstrip reserved and didn't have to wait until they opened on the weekends.

All other magazines and reviewers have to wait for a card from Ford to do an official review. They are all likely wrapping up their write-ups as we speak.

And in all honestly, it's in their best interest to sandbag the results of the MY18. They sell based off of performance delta. People aren't going to buy the car based off of their single review/results...at least not enough to support their entire aftermarket.

The mustang aftermarket makes more money when the mustang is slower than the camaro. People modify their cars to keep up with the Jonses. Hell, the new exhaust options they offer is likely going to put a significant dent in aftermarket sales.
The Mustang aftermarket makes more when the Mustang is cheaper than the Camaro. It is more expensive now. It made sense to get a Mustang if you were willing to mod it because it was a lot cheaper to start with. That isn't the case anymore. People willing to void the warranty on a 30k car may hesitate on one that is closer to 50.

Haha, are they still listening and jocking thePill's.............ugh, nevermind. Yea, I took a short trip over there. The new Mustang is the next coming of Christ. I remember a thread a year or 2 ago that thePill made. Had about 100 pages. They ALL, if not MOST claimed the GT............yes, the GT was a better overall car than the Z06. All over some made up stupid ass "golden ratio" or some made up term they use over there.

It's unbelievable how crazy the Mustang guys are.

Truth.

The other day I was in my Z06. Keep in mind I'm putting down close to 750 at the wheels. Pulled up at Sonic drive thru. The employees all have Mustangs. Just kids you know. Anyhow, pulled up. Pimple face kid first thing out of his mouth..............I can run you. I said, in what? Those fkn 4 bangers parked out back? Let's go. (they all had ecoboost's made to look like GT's). Give em credit for trying tho.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the back peddling began. Ah man, I was just playing. smh. To me, that is your typical Mustang owner. They think that since they have a MUSTANG, they are king of the streets. It's freaking amusing. I'm still trying to figure out at the age of 41 where that comes from. Is it some kind of Mustang entitlement?

Anyhow...........whatever. Moving on. Gonna get my blood pressure all worked up.

Funny, I get this from corvette owners more than any other.

Honestly, the only performance car that I don't see some type of huge negative stigma attached to are the mopar guys.

Eh, yea. Um, Vette owners are way more tamed than the Mustang crowd. But, I am with you tho for the most part. They think that since they own a Vette, well, they own a Vette. haha.

Forunately for me, I blow through cars every year, so I have no loyalty. I can run my mouth about anyone as I see fit. Mustang owners are hands down the douchiest. And it's not even close.

Yeah, don't get me wrong...nothing wrong with a vette...but some seem to think they are driving around a Ferrari. I don't think they realize that the average suburban cost more than their vehicle. They only thing that puts a corvette out of reach for many is the fact that they need more than 2 seats.

When I used to hang out with the local car guys, it was mostly with camaro owners. Of course, I grew up in a GM town (Lansing)...so that I'm sure had a bit to do with it.

haha, dude I'm so with you and I agree. When I bought my Z06 i just bought it cus I never owned one before. Before then, I did think MOST Vette guys were your older, douchey types. Mid life crises wannabe Ferrari guys. They prob still are, but I know quite a few of them now and they are from from it. Same goes to the GTR crowd. Thought the same thing, owned one, got to know a few GTR guys, they are far from what others think the majority are. But, I guess in each group, you have your cast outs. Just seems the whole mustang crowd is caught up in thinking the GT is the greatest machine of all time.

Besides, Ferrari's and Lambos and the exotics to me, just aren't that cool anymore. I'd rather have 3 cars like I do now........A Z06, Maserati GT, and a new Zl1 than own 1 Lambo.

When it comes to the Mustang crowd though, they seem to me to want to race every fkn car they see. Almost daily, when I'm in one of my rides, if a Mustang rolls up, they want to race. It never fails. And I'm like, slow down kid. Not everything is a race.

You're intentionally playing ignorant. Not one person dismissed that run. I have several times said that this run is indicative of the potential the GT has. I can go and post the link to me saying that if you want. You chose to ignore that for whatever Mustang-reason you have. What I said was that if you wanna compare fast times then compare it to fast times. But you can't compare this run to a magazine run because it wouldn't be a fair comparison. And I said a magazine run has to be compared to a magazine run to be fair. And I believe this is one of several times I explained it to you.

And at the time there was no information offered from LMR on the runs they did, how many runs it took, or how long they were out there...or even what the car did in unaltered form. Even MM&FF magazine offers details into their runs and how many they did and what the car did and what they altered pressure to and launched at. LMR just came out and said "hey we ran a 12". And you and your friends suddenly popped up here bragging about it and trying to compare it to a magazine time.

LOL, why even go over there? I have no idea what they talk about or do over there. They seem to be the ones always coming over here. And they pick very creative names (like "SSFriendly") and yet do nothing but promote Mustangs and down play Chevys, lol!! In fact, Mustang guys make up the biggest trolls on the planet. They troll every forum and FB group like they have nothing better to do. I saw a whole score of them get booted off several pages and forums for trolling. I wonder if people buy Mustangs and then start trolling or if people who are prone to trolling are somehow attracted to Mustangs...I would go troll them but they already have it bad enough.

Yea and a Suburban is a very expensive full size SUV. And no the "average" Suburban is not more expensive than a Vette. The higher up models with more options come in at a little more than a base Vette. But a 2LT with more options will MSRP higher. And a 3LT will definitely be higher. And it'll wipe the floor with anything Ford has in the same price range (ahem GT350/GT350R)...which is cheaper than the Expedition (see how dumb your Suburban comment is?). What puts the Vette out of the reach of many (including yourself) is the price. As well it should. Conversely, what puts the Shelby out of the reach of many is that it can't beat anything in it's tier level, at it's same price range, and is loaded with issues and problems, lol!!

Honestly, I think anyone wanting to drive a modern performance car should first purchase a foxbody and drive it rain or shine. This crowd killer issue that has swept the country is from those that have likely never even driven a RWD vehicle, let alone one with 400+ HP.

I would disagree in principle, 60-75K pickup trucks are all the rage these days, people will literally sell (finance) their right kidney to have one of these luxury quad-cab leather vehicles, so they can ride "above" everyone else and have "a truck". Maybe not quite the cost of a nicely appointed corvette, but get all sorts of comments about how expensive my BMW must be-at work, when all the people making these comments have pickup trucks that are far more expensive than my BMW was. The US auto makers (and a good number of foreign now too) know that the american public has a hard-on for trucks and SUVs. Women want SUVs and men want trucks. They all want them to be automatic. So this is where the automakers "make their money", so to speak.
