2012 Camaro ZL1 Insurance
Hi everyone Im new here,
Im buying a 2012 Camaro ZL1 in September, I live in Toronto, Ontario. I want to have an idea about the insurance prices. Im turning 21 soon, and I have a speeding ticket 20km over speed limit, driving as a g1, and careless driving (g1 and careless both gonna be cleared off my record in December). So anyone has a Camaro SS that lives in canada with a similar driving record, please post me what you paying for insurance. I really wanna have an idea about the prices. Any Replies greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. |

Interesting....how does one get a 2012 ZL1 in September??? How does a 21 year old afford it. Last if you can afford the ZL1...then insurance wouldn't be a problem would it?

I believe he meant September of 2012 and the speeding ticket is off his
driving record in December of this year. As far as being 21 and driving this car, I could be some what bias having a 20 year son myself. I would be scared to death letting him drive this car with all its power at your feet. Just due to the fact of lack of exp etc., but in some areas of this country and perhaps Canada as well, young adults begin to drive like at 15 years old. So perhaps he has 6 years of driving already. Just respect the power of this car and be carefull, and enjoy. As far as the insurance I have in the past called my insurance agent up and would ask him point blank "hey Jim I'm thinking of buying this car", how much will my insurance would go up? He would get the information and call me back latter in the day and let me know his findings. Each person is going to be differant even if your in the same age group with a similar speeding ticket etc. Plus the ZL1 might be more to insure then an SS due to its MSRP being higher. Oh Welcome to the forums!! |

they said they are going to start making the car 1/1/12 so your record should be clear by then unless you were talking about dec 2012 and if you can afford it at 21 insurance should be nothing

Im buying the car this coming september2011 and my record is gonna be clean in december 2011, I was at the dealer yesterday buying the 2011 2ss white on black with hurst short throw shifter and it wasnt in stock, so they said they need to factory order it and takes 6-8 weeks. So..I asked him about the zl1 when is it gonna be out for sale? he said this coming september, so i told him I rather wait for it, its not really a difference waiting an extra month and plus its worth waiting for it, its faster, better looking (exterior and Interior), and newer, and its only $3000 extra on top of the 2ss..so around 55k. And for the insurance part its not that i can or cannot afford it, its because i never got insured before...so i dont have an idea about the insurance prices..specially with my record and the car im buying.
Thats why I wanna know who has a similar driving record to mine, that drives an SS. |

early as sept 2011, but the cars will not be ready for sale at the dealers until at least Jan 2012. This is according to GM's official press release on the ZL1. Last edited by Z4me; 04-15-2011 at 07:41 PM. |

That's probably when preorders will start. You wont have the car till early next year.

If I were you insurance agent I'd double your estimated premium to save your life...you really should not be driving a ZL1.

You'll have 2 payment books. One for your insurance and one for your car payments.
