1le front end Conversion
Has any one done the 1le conversion on their ZL1 non 1LE. I know they don't make a convertible model but seeing this it is almost hard to pass up doing it.
would it be to unrealistic to do it on a convertible? Last edited by IMCWORTH; 03-29-2024 at 01:07 PM. |

This would be worse than buying a a track car with a sunroof.

Your car, your money, and your choice. You wouldn’t be the first person to add ZLE parts to an SS or ZL1 convertible. If you decide to install the rear wing then you’ll want to search for the thread that talks about it. Your current rear spoiler has a radio antenna inside it so you’ll need to plan ahead to deal with it.

And a sunroof adds weight, sure. But if you're someone who nevers track the car or only goes a few times a year, who cares. It'll still go around as fast as a ZL1 without one. What's worse is a person buying a ZL1 or ZL1 1LE and turning it into a straight line car.....or never taking it to a track. But people will do what they want with their vehicles. |

The middle of the roof carries no load, everything's at the edges. Put it into an FEA program and you'll see all the stress is at the corners. Having a sunroof makes virtually no difference, other than a little more weight up top.
This is not on the same planet as a convertible, which lacks all of these spots tying the body together from the top. Even still not on the same planet as a sport-back type design that lacks rigidity due to the rear hatch, like a 4 series GC, Audi A5 SB, Stinger, etc. There is nothing wrong with buying a car with a sunroof for tracking. It's not missing out on anything significant.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=601997 You'll lose the rear camera too since that's in your current spoiler. The 1LE spoiler won't accomodate it. So you'll have to figure out where to put it if you want to keep it. |

I am however not a big fan of the rear spoiler being so tall. if it was shorter I would think about it I just love the front of the ZL1 1LE https://extremeonlinestore.com/colle...41107239600298 |
