Manual trans question

Ok I feel pretty dumb asking this but here goes...The knob on my 6 speed trans has a blue tint around the shift pattern logo. It almost looks like the plastic protective film used to keep new items from getting scratches but it is totally integrated into the knob and I do not see any edges. Most pics of other shifters I see online this area is silver. I don't want to pick at it too much cause I can't tell if its supposed to be blue or not. Has anybody else seen this?

Mine is a brushed silver. Looks like you still have the film on.

So one says thats how it is supposed to be and 3 say the film is still on. Has anybody actually had the film on like this and removed it themselves? I usually know what this kind of film looks like but I'm telling you it really looks integrated...

Try using your thumb to roll the edge and peel it off. It's not glued on, your being way to overly cautious.

Thanks for all the replies! I have been unable to get it off with just my fingers...I will go after it with a razor blade to try and peel the edge up. Just really don't want to scratch anything up on my new ride!

after trying to get the "film" off with a razor blade I have discovered it is not a protective film...more like a coating. I can only get it off in very tiny chunks about the size of the tip of a pencil. Not sure what the heck is going on but looks like its gonna have to take a trip to the dealer for a warranty claim.
