Everyone that is concerned about the price but is considering purchasing a 2016 or later model Camaro (or really any GM vehicle) should immediately apply for a GM credit card and join a credit union that offers a $750 GM incentive. (the credit union is just in case you cant get a $1000 private offer) Around Feb each year select GM card members will receive a "top off" which can be as much as $3000 and they will often allow you to use the entire amount towards a new vehicle circumventing the redemption limits that are normally in place. Add to that the $750-1000 Credit Union/Private offer and whatever incentives will be available at the time it could reduce the cost by as much as $5000.
When I purchased my 2014 in October of 2013 I did not have a top off but I had a nearly maxed out Grandfathered GM card (no redemption limits) with $3500 on it and a USAA $750 discount for $4250 in savings. (there were no incentives at the time) I am considering the 6th Gen but it will only coincide with a top off and other incentives. I already have a great 2014 so I can afford to wait. Just tell yourself no top off no deal, and if you don't get one this coming Feb just keep saving until next Feb and see what the 2017 models offer. I am hoping they add a performance data recorder like the Vette and ATS-V.

GT premium with track pack or 1SS with MRC/NPP.
I hate the front end of the new mustang, but like the rear and interiors. Camaro looks good from all angles, but with $40K budget, I don't think I can get a well optioned one. |

If you are looking for straightline performance...what about an X plan Mustang GT with Ford Racing Supercharger Kit--comes with Factory warranty...

<~~~~~~ still not too keen on spending $40,000+ for a Camaro with a V-8 and "stuff" ..... could care less about "tech" add ons ..... I would much rather have a very good amount of Performance options like gearing, exhaust, intakes, super lightweight wheels, etc ....

Agreed. I know lots of folks love all the new tech features and they are needed in order for the Camaro to continue to evolve and be competitive. However, a large percentage of Camaro enthusiasts really just want a muscle car. It would be great if there were a base SS with AC, power windows and a radio for $32k. When I drive my 1le I hardly even listen to the radio. I enjoy the sound of the exhaust as I row the gears. I am actually enjoying the process of driving while I can because the next generation will probably be shuttled around by self-driving cars. |

I'm considering an Audi now. For the price, sorry. Rather get a better made car.

LOL $1800 brake job front and rear you woulda been screwed. $1800 FRONT brake job on a Merc E350? Yikes. I guess that's why they call it the Stealer. Never do brake jobs at the dealer, unless they're covering it under warranty. So no, you did not get a "hook up" or "good guy price" -- you got the "royally screwed out of your mind" price. |

Here is the big question:
How many people here can really afford a $50,000 loan that compounds at 3-4% interest for an asset that loses 10-15% of its value every single year? I'm willing to bet quite a lot of people have car loans larger than their 401K. Cars are the single worst investment the average person will make. I would never buy one of these cars brand new. It is a total waste. The hit you take is ridiculous. But I'm thankful for those that do. Once most people realize they can't afford the loan and have to sell it, it allows others to purchase it at a 20% discount off MSRP with less than 5,000 miles on the odometer Deduct the first year model run. Wait 1 year for the 2017's to wind up in the used car lot. The earliest I could see myself in a Gen 6 is 2018. And of course, I'd look to buy in the winter. You can get a better deal.

Audi's are one of the poorest made cars on the road. They are hunks of junk and require constant maintenance. If you want to spend your weekends in a dealership waiting room, enjoy your Audi. Wait until you see the maintenance costs
