I'd raise this to an even worse feeling is hearing the splitter hit when you misjudge the curb. Actually gave my car to a valet once at a hotel. Came out, saw it in the lot, splitter was up over the curb. GM splitter which had already cracked after the aforementioned misjudge of a different curb. this kinda did it in. Manager came out and said "don't let our guys park your car." and pulled it off the curb, horrific noise. I could have blamed them for the damage but I'd have felt guilty doing so.

Good advice about the valet not parking it. I never thought of that. I'm paranoid about my splitter.

But... I didn't let the foam cure long enough apparently. Came out the next day to a bulge. Looked ridiculous, but I laughed it off and just went on with life until I swapped it out with an aftermarket one before trading it in.

Oh boy, we talking about the splitter?
I screwed up mine last Friday. I have also lightly scraped it before, but this one managed to destroy it. I was going to going up a level in a terribly designed parking lot and bam, the curb chewed up my front splitter. Interestingly, I never scraped it because I parked too close to a curb. I did it before as I got my jab and was a little out of it, so I put my car in 1st instead of reverse as I was backing out of a spot and ksssssss... That damage was minor enough for me to not bother with it. On the SS 1LE, it is DIY-able, but having a friend helps quite a bit. There are 12 bolts and 6 rivets(I think 20+ has two more that require you to take off the front wheels and pull back the fender from the one video I saw on YT, which my 19 doesn't have), and then 3 strips of glue. A heat gun, a small utility knife and patience will get the adhesive off. I needed to go to the gym yesterday so I stopped after removing the adhesive residue. Will finish installing it today.

Fixed it... I didn't scrape yesterday, but I parked better today.

If this was a Honda Civic SI forum and we were driving Hondas, I'd just say break the other side to match and tell people that it's a homemade air intake that gives you 200 HP at the wheels. Quote:

Or I could sell it to a Mustang owner. ATK+99 when they crash into crowds as it has sharp bits exposed.

That, and lower risk of accidentally cracking the splitter when backing into a space
I gotta admit mine also has a few small scrapes at the bottom (mostly from tricky driveways, though), but I touched them up all right. One of these days I'll have to get that nice integrated front camera from Gen5DIY and install it properly, the only problem is I get cold sweat just thinking about dropping that &#@** glove box cover to access the HMI, it was a gargantuan PITA back when I installed the footwell lighting...

LOL! I've never heard that backing into a parking spot is a muscle car thing. I've backed into parking spots for years in order to protect the NISMO spoiler on my Z. I actually did that that the other day with my 1LE when I went to the dealership to pick up some parts I ordered. Great way to protect that front splitter on it. I thought the folks there were looking at the 1LE, not my parking job.
