Meet at Wally's August 4th
Camaro Fifth Gen meet at Wally’s Drive-In 282 Highway 410 N Buckley, WA 98321 August 4th, 12:00 Noon Hi everybody! I’ve been out of the country, and couldn’t post this sooner. I’ve been sitting on this idea until I got confirmation that we could get the location.Sorry for the short notice. C5 fest is less than two weeks away. We’d probably all like to go, but for most of us in the Pacific Northwest, it’s not really an option to drive all the way to Indiana. So I got to thinking that on that weekend, we should have our own little get-together right here! I borrowed a page from my friend Tim, and thought maybe it’s time to have another meet and greet event like the one he put together this past spring. We can always cross our fingers that maybe the weather might be better now that it’s “summer”. Now I understand that this is short notice. And being summer, people have other things going on; car shows, vacations, Seafair, etc. So I have no illusions about putting together a large event. I’ve decided to keep it simple, and see what happens. I created some criteria for the location, accessibility, parking, atmosphere, and came up with Wally’s Drive-in, in Buckley. I took a little drive down there last week, and here is some of what I saw: There just happened to be a weeknight gathering of Corvettes! And it gave me a pretty good idea of how a Camaro gathering might look. It has more parking than I thought it did. I did a quick count and came up around 45 spaces for cars. Considering we had about 50 cars at the Dick’s gathering, this is right in the ball park. Plus I also expect fewer cars because of the aforementioned reasons. But if we do somehow get more, there is lots of parking on the street behind Wally’s. And there is only a narrow park to cross. Speaking of the park, it has a playground if you have kids. And there are all kinds of artifacts lining the park illustrating the towns logging history. There’s even a little fire watchtower that you can climb. As you can see, Wally’s is very car friendly, and the town has a nice historical atmosphere. Buckley is easy to get to from just about any direction, and you can drive through some pleasant scenery to get there. From Buckley, it’s a quick drive to points of interest like Mud Mountain Dam, Flaming Geyser State Park, the historic towns of Wilkeson and Carbonado, and even Mt Rainier National Park. It starts at noon, and goes as long as it goes. And as last time, although it’s primarily for Fifth Gen Camaro’s, all are welcome!: Other gens, other Chevys , other cars. So how about it? Who’s interested? Please post if you can make it!

Ok, googled it about 60 miles from us. I think we're out of town that weekend, though.

It's the setting for the Chris Farley movie "Black Sheep"!
Actually it's Southeast of Seattle, near Mt. Rainier. South of Enumclaw, East of Puyallup.

I can go! As far as time, probably later is better for people coming from points north, since it's Seafair weekend, and traffic will be a bear while the Blue Angels are flying...

It's in the town near where I live. (And for you Canadians, it has nothing to do with cough syrup!) A very small old logging town tucked into the corner of the Enumclaw Plateau, at the base of the Mt Rainier foothills. Pretty much the edge of civilization before Mt. Rainier. Wally's is right on the main route through town, WA HWY 410. Here is a map to give you some idea of where it is in relation to cities you probably already know. (And for Merc, it's about a half-hours drive from Auburn, where Pacific Raceways is. I'll bet you're familiar with that place!):
Here's a pic taken on a nicer day that I found on the web: It would be awesome to see you if you could make it! We'd happily roll out the red carpet for Pumpkin!
