It's only the turbo 4 (with an option to turn it off). As stated in the press release, the V6 and V8 feature mechanical sound enhancers, ie, no fake engine noise being played through the speakers.

I test drove the CTS Vsport. To be honest, I didn't know it had the noise being played through the speakers, but I did think it sounded great. GM could probably argue that if they did not play them through the speakers, people might think the car sounds too quiet. It is very quiet under normal driving conditions. But sounds good when you get on it.

I guess I'm torn by it. Maybe I would be happier not knowing any cars did it? But it is hard to tell inside the car that it is being played through the speakers. It seems more and more cars are doing it though, so we probably just have to accept it sooner than later.

I believe on some of the cars, that is the exact reason they do it. Because otherwise it would be too quiet on the inside and the sound is part of the experience.

Yes there is fake engine sound on the ecoboost. There's a video on YouTube of it doing a system test. Honestly it sounds better without it from the vids I saw.

That is what I meant lol. I meant it takes the sound that is already there, and amplifies it to make it more pleasant to hear. So yes it is still fake, but not fake like a prerecorded fake. that is the way I believe it works.

Ah you mean like the fiat 500 (think the abarth) does. It has a bunch of recorded sounds to play. Yep not nearly that bad.

People driving cars that need sound amplification to sound better should be driving a prius..

The reason they need the enhancement is that cars are too quiet. Customers want a whisper quiet highway cruise, but also want good sound with acceleration. Unfortunately you can't have both without these "enhancements".

Im aware of that. I think part of the problem is you cant make a 4 banger sound good.. with our without an over insulated car..

I bet in most cases if Nobody knew it had the enhanced sound they would never know it did just by listening to it. Now that you know it then you hate it...nobody knew Milli Vinilli wasn't really singing until someone spilled the beans.
