Yup, nothing like a "fast break-in" when you're going to tear down in 300 miles.

The only thing that needs break in is the rings ,see you learned something new today.

This. And engine braking is just as important as accelerating during break-in. The rings need both sides "scrubbed in" or whatever you wanna call it.

My 2 cents. I know the engineers who developed the 1LE package-suspension, electronic controls, etc.. They are the racing drivers who drive the car at Milford and around the world in developing the package, one drove the Z28 at the "Ring". They designed and beat the crap out of the cars. At least one developed the new Corvette and Z06-which is a friggin awesome car. Break in is not limited to the engine guys. I was told not over 4,000 rpm for 3,000 mile with no steady state speed. The Principle reason for this advice has nothing to do with the engine...it is the differential. Drive it like you stole it tends to lead to lead to gear whine and early differential failure in the 1LE. That is what they found in their extensive experience which included one weekend driving 1LE's and going through 100 sets of Goodyears between them! My friend told me it was the best three day weekend of his life. Do what you want but I sure read about a lot of noisy and failed diffs. BTW, he really does not recommend using any diff oil but what comes in the car.

Agreed.
You can always tell who the tough guys are, and who actually has experience with performance and engines.

....and the "manufacturer" knows "well" to spec DOT 3 brake fluid on a "sports car" right?

Yeah, whatever. You guys can continue to discuss all this ad nauseam for the next decade, just like the dino oil dudes did for close to 20 years, lollll!

A lil common sense goes a long way. There are different break-in points for different parts on the car, be sure about that one, obviously, it all amounts to a balancing act of sorts.

Speaking of fine lines and balancing acts, there are engineers, and there are the suits and the bean counters. Do not forget the latter group .
