My current build is going to be carb style intake, ported heads, solid roller etc.. Looking for 600 rwhp range.
My friend jake over on LS1 tech just pushed a 346 to 540...... still with room on the table. You need to be meticulous to achieve extraordinary results. No offense. To unleash amazing power you have to touch more then just the motor. You need all the resistance in your transmission, differential, hubs etc gone. Do you have a vacuum pump, crank scraper, single belt on just the alternator, Electric water pump, intake to allow it go to 8k. Lots of things get looked over when it comes to chasing that horsepower number and nobody wants to invest the dollars for effort when you can just add cubic inches and achieve the same goal. 530 should be a decent head cam build on a LS3. Most people slap a cam and heads on one with headers and say its a good set up. You should get to almost 480-500 on a stock cam FBO and alternative fuel such as CHP+ Then when you stick that LLSR cam in and the glorious heads and ITB you should be in the ball park of 600.

I think we should think about our 5.0 friends; camming their engine is like 10-15rwhp and cost a bunch. They all run lightweight flywheel, driveshaft, weight reduction, 15" drag wheels and agressive gearing. How often do you see this here? Not so often. they rev their engine higher and higher.

On the LS community, most average joe, like me lol, it seems that we take the easy route, because its easy, it works and its cheap. But its about to change!

But for a max effort setup, its not gonna cut it.

Max effort with LS3 intake...is a bit, lets say self defeating. I mean it works great with the rod mod and light porting, but you need something better to push the envelope.

Lazermontana said it well. All those extra on the sides are the one that will pay in the end. Vacuum pump, electric water pump, notching the piston, 7500rpm and suporting intake manifold and some good e85...

We gotta thank guys that are pushing it!! Gpi will be back with another record I hope!!

have you guys looked into itbs before? i feel like you could have gotten more out of the SBE ls3 with a different intake manifold. any reason why you didn't give that a shot?
