Thanks for the input everyone.
Anything I should keep an eye out for while I am looking tomorrow? Any common problems with the 2010s? I took a look through the forum the other day but didn't see anything that appeared to be consistently popping up. Tomorrow going to look at the silver(1ss) and black(2ss) SS that I put in my first post, and additionally a synergy green(1ss) 2011. Trying to decide if the SGM is a bit too obnoxious of a color for me to drive everyday. Looks pretty nice in the pics, just under 2500 miles on it for $27k. |

I bought my 2010 SS just over 2 years ago and have not had one problem with it. Go for it!

Originally, I hated the 2010-11 wheel, but actually having driven both, I have actually come to prefer that wheel over the 2012 and beyond. That blank space gives a good natural resting position for your thumbs, which helps on long drives. The only real drawback I have is that the paddle shifters are just buttons instead of the paddles like on the 2012.

For me the 2010 was the correct year. It is lighter then the following years. I also like the more vanilla dash and original steering wheel. If you do a weight comparison between the z28 and the 2010 Camaro the 2010 comes in about 20 pounds lighter.

Nothing wrong at all unless you are buying a convertible. A 2011 may have the 5th bow issue, so be aware of that. Otherwise, nothing wrong at all.

What is wrong with 2010-2011 SS?
Nothing. Those cars are going to be tough sales for any dealer. At that price point, you can go buy a new V6 Mustang, or maybe even a new V6 Camaro. The geographical region probably doesn't help either. Then, figure in higher interest on a used car loan... and you are looking higher payments than on the previously mentioned new cars. Nothing is wrong with those cars though... they just need buyers.

I didnt read all of the responses but here is my opinion. One, you are buying a Camaro in New Hampshire. A car that you wouldnt want to drive much in mud season and you pretty much have to put away in Winter. I lived there and I am moving back and hate that I will have to put mine away for Winter but..
The second thing in my opinion is that 2012 was the first year of the new changes to the suspension since auto journalists hated the original set up. I never drove one but the 2012 borrowed suspension bits from the ZL-1 and it sured up the handling. Again, just what i read. Never drove a 2010 or 2011. I know my 2012 handles really well. Also, the interior was redesigned a little which was another area the journalists complained about. I didnt buy my Camaro for interior so that didnt matter to me. But I wanted a 2012 for the handling. In Nov 2014, I bought a 2SS/RS LS3 car that was immaculant with only 20,700 miles on it for $24,200. |

Nothing.
Upgrades did happen in 12 and each year after that.

Unless you plan on tracking your car, the suspension change isn't that great of a change. If you ever do decide to make upgrades, like coil overs, or springs, then spend the $100 and change the rear lower control arms then to accommodate the newer sway bars. The extra labor cost to swap them once you're going that far is small. Personally the new steering wheel is ugly. Looks like every 4 door sedan wheel from Chevy. To each his own. I would also do a search on issues with the model year you are looking for. See if those problems still exist or were taken care of. For example, 2nd gear grind on the manual 6. Some have it, some don't. I never had the issue but I also changed the trans fluid to non-GM, have the Tick stainless clutch and bleed lines, and a modified slave cylinder.

I agree with this. I doubt it has much to do with the specific model years. There just aren't many people looking for manuals, and not too many people shopping for sports cars in a blizzard. I doubt the dealers do much to try to move cars like this in the winter. They know they will have much better luck when spring fever hits.

There are no inherent design flaws in these cars that make them tough for dealers to sell. I just bought a 2011 RS/SS 6 spd manual with 60K on it last November. No real issues thus far. The exhaust has some rattle as described in the sticky thread on here.
Very reliable, durable cars to be sure, among one of the best GM has produced. |
