I believe the current crop of V6's is a lot faster than the previous 3.8's and such. The only quicker F-body V6 would be the turbo trans ams that ran the Buick GS' turbo motors. They were faster than corvettes that year (87 I believe), I dont think there was a Camaro equivalent though. The Camaro's are better handling, brake better, accelerate harder and of course look a 1000x better than their predecessors. - Looks for a 68-69 may be subjective, but not performance. Who knows what will happen next gen, but I am sure it will be more HP and of course less weight.

BTW, I dont want this to be a I am faster than an SS thread. This is not what its about. I respect the SS owners great cars that sound great and drive even better. I own a V6 and am interested just from the stand point of evolution from a nothing 6 to a something 6.
I bet that if Chevrolet looks close enough at the price point / performance of the six. Adding a few more ponies for a little more money could drive many more sales. Hoping someone could add something to our six. Like Carrol Shelby is doing to the Ford Mustang 6. I guess we wait until Whiteside shows the 6 banger Green Camaro at SEMA to see what is possible. |

The 5th gen V6 has to be the fastest. I would be surprised if it wasn't.

Very True, a V8 has been around for decades. Also most wont bother with a 6 when an 8 will do the job. Plus I think our six costs as much as a create LS1

I drove my neighbor's '69 250 L6 with powerglide 2-speed auto back in the day, when it was about 10 years old. Sweet car, dark green with green interior, bucket seats and console floor shifter, AM radio. Lots of rust. Once it got going, power was similar to a 307 small block V8 I had in my '71 Chevelle vert (non-SS) that had a really loud valve tick and top rip I never fixed. Fwiw. Those were the days! :-)

I've heard that they don't cost too much less than an LS3, but that could be just a rumor. If true, that would probably put them at about $6,000
