:-( Better get me a V8 Then :-)
Though I'm only on 22,500 after almost 5 years now ... but maybe that;s an issue too ... #worry #worry And as I am in the UK I am afloat on a Desert Island for any warranty too. |

Trust me. I'm already online looking at V8's... If they repair the motor than I'm definitely selling the car. If they replace the motor I might drive it till the warranty is up later this year then trade it in.

My 2010 LLT made it to 86,000 miles before the timing belt needed replacing & it's at 118,000 miles right now. Automatic trans & no issues there.
Only added an exhaust, suspension & a Supercharger at 100k miles. The original owner bought the car in '09 & had 72,000 miles on it when I got the car in May 2011. |

Arkentect it seems like usual course of action is replacement. Hope your experience with the dealer goes smoother than mine did

Maybe I should be glad my car only has 16,500 miles on it lol. Not enough miles for any issues to show their head. Then again....I may have never have issues (that's the mindset I'm going with lol)
By this time next year I may be driving a 2016 model if all goes well...likely another V6 model. Its supposed to have the new LGX V6.....fingers crossed it too doesn't have issues being a new engine. I have to admit...that does worry me a bit. The LFX on the other hand seems pretty mature. Hoping the LGX is based enough on the LFX to take away some of the worry.

Update: Well the service manager finally went over the motor and determined that he can't see any debris so it must not be there. The course of action they want to head towards is a straight repair of the rod bearing and crank shaft without a flushing of the block.
I'm not very comfortable with this plan of action because to me, and every other engine builder, this is a band aid repair to get me past the warranty in two months. I'm in contact with the GM reps and trying to get on the phone with a senior manager or someone that knows anything about motors. I know theres a service rep in this forum. Can someone tag them or camaropete, Ive heard they can help with this process. |

The need to look inside the heads, I've heard that's where a lot of the debris ends up. Keep up the good fight and open a case with GM- they are more useful than the dealerships when they are at that point.

Well looks like I may be joining this group soon. Dash lit up today, lost all power then left me stranded on the side of the road

Hope we are not all doomed to LLT motor / timing chain failures, time will tell I guess.

83k miles. Pennzoil full synthetic. Weird thing is it hasn't eaten any oil, checked the oil and it looks just fine

Good luck with you vehicle... I ended up forking up the difference between the repair and motor replacement so the new motor went in last week. Hopefully I'll be picking it up tomorrow. It's been 5weeks since the beginning of this and I'm looking forward to finally having my baby back lol
