"drop kit" (suspension lowering kit) will be available through GM

It was announced yesterday at the camarofest by the accessory team that GM will be offering a drop kit to lower the camaro.

Don't know, they didn't go into details on how the "drop" would happen. I would assume you could, they (aftermarket) are doing it on the zl1

Can someone there ask the reps if they're planning factory tunes for the LTG?

My apology for not thinking to ask, but they also announced a short ram intake would be available very quickly and those normally need an ecm tune to not throw cels.

Also a performance exhaust, but those do not need a tune although Chevy likely will do a recalibration on those.

I think that'd be a huge opportunity for GM, they've done it before with the old LNF 2.0T and even Sonic 1.4Ts have a tune/exhaust kit now.

It would be and Cheryl Pilcher said so, but in both the Sonic and the Cobalt GM was alarmingly late to the party. Hopefully what the GMPP staff present said will hold true: many of these parts will be available to be dealer installed (if you so choose) when taking delivery later this year (November/December was the mentioned time frame) as then one could get the full benefit of the general warranty, which is more than the GMPP twelve month warranty.

I planned to put 18s in my 2ss. I wonder if that will be possible with the lowering kit

Certainly if you keep the same tire circumference. Which you would want to do for speedo and odo reasons, I think.

Not sure that I'll need to drop this car or not, but if I do I'll definitely give the GM option a hard look.

Also I really like that they are saying they will have a short ram intake available soon. I think if they do a good job with it, I'd rather go for something factory supported rather than aftermarket.

I do think I would ever lower my camaro but if I did it would definitely be from GM. Probably cost a little more but retains warranty and GM parts. The only way to go IMO.

Gm is just nailing it with the options, build choices and accessories. Their truck dept could learn a thing or two (or 7).

Certainly a tune can take care of this, but I wonder if dealers have the ability to update this for the vehicle. I know that the Dodge dealership was able to for a Charger I had a couple of years ago.
