My 2010 V6 v.s. 1989 Corvette
Ok so here it is my buddy has a 89 vette with only 65k miles on it so the engine is still in good shape and has a CAI only added to it and i have what you can see below in my sig. He wants to have a friendly race which im always down for, but he says im probably going to kill him. Now i dont know much about the 89 vettes, but will i really beat him as bas as he thinks im going to? or is he just saying that.

That corvette new would do between 15.2 and 14.8 in the quarter. My v6 will do 13.99 in the quarter and most will do 14.6 or less; guessing yours does about 13.6 or so... I'd say cut a good light and you should take him easy...

I have an 89 IROC 350 (corvette engine) and it's a DOG but I'm used to my SS. The engine output is only like 220 hoursepower BUT 320 or something torque... That's what may get you, he's got way more torque but like I said, ive driven the V6 and it seems way peppier than my IROC. I have no idea how an 89 IROC compares to an 89 Corvette tho.

I think you would take the that year Vette. Although, it still could be a driver's race.

He's running E85 with a full set of bolt ons. He's easily over 300 RWHP and probably 290 RWTQ. I don't think it's a driver's race at all. He should kill the '89 vette.

Huh? You're car should keep up with it, his LLT should be running mid 13s with his mods. That year vette was a mid 14s car.

i helped him put the intake in so its all that i have seen done to it and its not loud at all so no ehaust system either.

I'm very familiar with those L98 cars. I had a 90 vette (m6) and raced the heck out of it, mostly roadcourse stuff but drags too.
CAI doesnt do much of anything for those cars. His car should run high 13s if its stock. He could have the 2.59, the 2.73 or the 3.07 rear end gears. The 3.07 being the performance one. The L98 cars do well off the line with the low end torque that comes on early and often but they run out of steam and HP at about 4500 RPM.
