Bolton 4th gen vs 5th gen
There seems to be a debate over the 4th gens performing better or just as good when close to stock. I figured I would share this, raced a bolton 4th gen WS6 with nittos as well. He took me at the start had a car and a half on me... by mid track I was pulling hard and took a half car on him by the finish. All I have is headers on stock tires and no tune, I was running 12.70s all day, he was aslo a T6!

Stock, those LS1s are in the 13s, so they're not that far off a new SS. They're lighter, which helps the 100hp defecit. A bolt on LS1 against a stock SS would be a drivers race.

Just getting sick of hearing how all these bolt on 4th gens run 11s and bashing 5th gens on another site! I have yet to see these super car runs or loose to bolt on 4th gen and I have owned 2 of them. I have been told they MPH just as good also, but every time I race one, I run them down My friend has the video too, I spun hard at the start then ran him down. This is pretty much the out come all the time, I am not saying 4th gens CANT run low 12 or high 11s with bolt-ons or that they are junk cars, because I love the 4th gen cars... but allot of the owners are pissing me off lately, so I figured I would share the outcome of this race. Point is most bolt-on 4th gens are NOT faster then a LS3 SS

my ls1 was underrated....my ws6 made 313 rwhp 100% stock...so there really isn't a 100 hp difference between 4th and 5th.... (at least the one I owned)

I know for a fact I'm not the fastest out there, and I'm ok with that. If your not fast enough, don't hate....Just get faster. Simple as that.

The 4th Gen debuted in 93, so almost 20 years old now.

guys 4th gens mod for mod are faster in the 1/4 hands down! Its a matter of weight! my Bolt-On 4th camaro 6sp ran high 11's at the track all day long at 114mph. Mods were as follow
Mac mid Headers McLoad Clutch Pro 5.0 shifter 12bolt rear with 4.11's Underdrive pulley Fast Toys Ram air Welds Drag lights with QTP's All that being said the 5gen is a completly different car, the 5th def feels more like a road racer and the suspension is def directed in the direction s. the 4th

I have yet to see anybody do it. Most on this site just look at dyno number and dont understand that is a combination of the right parts that get you going.

LS1 A4 Fbodies dynoed down in the 270 - 280 range. LS1 M6 Fbodies dynoed in the 300- 310 range. Some guys dynoed higher on the more generous dynos. That puts the LS1 around 350hp at the crank. But stock vs stock - the 5th gens have the advantage. The 5th gen runs about .2-3. tenth faster and traps a good 2-3 mph higher (on average). If a stock 4th gen ran 12.9 - 13.0 @ 110 mph it was a real fast run with a very high trap speed (well above average), but a 12.9 - 13.0 @ 110 mph is a magazine average time for the 5th gen. Magazine average for the 4th gen was around 13.3 - 13.5 @ 105 mph. |
