I just did some heavy extensive research on the LT1 V8 and to why they can sell it so cheap. What I found was....

It will come with no A/C
No Passenger side mirror
It will come only in a manual trans
No power windows only roll up
AM Radio only
A front Bench Seat
No power Steering
Manual adjustable seat
No carpeting, just rubber floor mats.

Wow. It should weigh at least 600 lbs less ...because everyone knows a modern Camaro weighs more then a 64 Biscayne because of all the unnecessary comfort options.

You forgot to mention the manual is a three on the tree, and it only comes with lap belts, and the ABS is foot activated.

They used the 1LT interior. They used the base car bumper. The only other brakes they have are considerably smaller for the 4 cylinder and V6, and 18" wheels. The V8 weighs 250 pounds more than a V6, and produces 50% more power. Those little brakes would be overwhelmed in no time, and downright dangerous. Also they would look really stupid in a 20" wheel. The only other brakes they have are the Brembos for the SS.

In addition, if they did not use the SS Brembos, they would have to revalidate the brake package with the much bigger engine. That costs money, and they would not have that many units to spread the cost over.

The press release isn't necessarily 100% inclusive of all the changes, but there was no mention of a brake change from the SS. My guess is the cooling systems for the engine, trans, and differential are the same, too. Otherwise, they would have to revalidate those, too.
If it is intended as a non track car, base brake on the Camaro should be more than fine. Think of it this way, if your passenger goes 3 bills and up and you have any luggage your bop rake won’t fail you.

You are now into GVWR and I wouldn’t be worried if you aren’t overloading the car.

I think the point of the LT1 is simply the customer that wants thrust when thec accelerator is pushed.

Base Camaro is much more than a Malibu.

But they could put Brembos on standard but then the only thing they are taking away for thev3 grand is wider rear wheels and coolers.

Have to wait and see.

Additional 2020 updates include a new exterior color and an expanded range of available features across the lineup, giving customers more ways to personalize their new Camaro:
Rally Green exterior color.
Rear spoiler available on LS and LT (previously RS package only).
Dark-tinted taillamps available on LS and LT.
20-inch forged aluminum wheels available on LT, LT1 and SS.
Red or orange brake calipers available on LT, LT1 and SS models.
Red seat belts available on all models (previously ZL1 only).
Red kneepads available on all models.
RECARO performance seats available on LT (previously 1LE only).
Sueded microfiber-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob trim available on LT and SS (previously ZL1 and 1LE only).
Alloy pedals available on all models (previously ZL1 only).
Black bowtie badges and Camaro fender badge available on LT.
Adrenaline Red and Ceramic White leather interiors now available on 2LT (previously 3LT and 2SS only).
3LT now comes standard with the 2.0L Turbo engine and the Convenience and Lighting package (previously optional).

I would think what is available on the 1LT as an option would also be available for the LT1....but then up goes the price...lol...A lot of cross-pollination it seems especially from the ZL-1...No biggie...Looks like they are sort of throwing the kitchen sink at just about everything..lol,..All good. I hope the 1LT is a hit and the V-8 bargain everyone was hoping for.

I was playing g with build and price, to see what a LT1 might look like with different options, just because, and You can get rally and spider stripes? Has anyone ever seen one optioned like that? Look like a modern take on those Doppler effect looking Mopar stripes.

I think this setup looks pretty good. Red & flat black, with a little machined metal spread around

I think most people think this is a huge surprise. GM lately has been concentrating on electric and self-driving vehicles. My guess before this announcement is that GM would have left the Camaro to die on the vine year after year and then (maybe) announce there would be no 7th gen.

They did use that color. It was the 2015 Green Flash edition.

What's that mean? Meaning the Hyper Blue is a more complicated/expensive paint and Riverside is a cheaper, simpler alternative?
