i'm now thinking that the Camaros 2.0T, is getting FORGED PISTONS

A different LTG, different than the current LTG ??
Prehaps a stronger LTG, for a world class muscle car.
I agree, that this is why, it won't be available at launch...

And guess what the weak link is, that would cause warranty nightmares,
because, RACECAR...

Maybe, just maybe, we will get our wish.... FORGED PISTONS...

No need to go thru the emissions recalibration testing, if your just changing,
to forged pistons.
But, this would cause a delay...

Or maybe some parts are cheaper on the Camaro, since the car has an MSRP $10k+ less than the ATS.

I do not think they would use forged pistons, Short lifespan. warranty nightmare.

It's still the same basic engine, that was in the 2008-2010 Cobalt SS, so
I don't see them 'dumbing', it down...

The weak-link, has always been the pistons, Sky Solstice, Cobalt SS, HHR SS, ATS, CTS,
have all had piston issues...

And the Camaro 2.0T, will easy sale more, than all of the others combined...
So, the need, to make this engine, a true world class, reliable, performance engine,
in a true world class pony car, the new Gen6 Camaro.

Hmm... GM decided to use forged pistons in the new LT4 engine, so maybe,
the engineers, finally found the need, to put forged pistons, in the Camaros
2.0T, because of fact, that more of them will be tortured, in the hands of
performance oriented owners...

Don't know why the engine would be different, except maybe improved cooling on the Camaro.

Cooling would be a non issue, as the LT1, would be the most demanding
engine, in regards to cooling, & the Gen6 Camaro, has been engineered for this, already.

Maybe my employer didn't change the designation because they are reintroducing a 4 cylinder to the Camaro & the LTG is an award winning engine so why not relate the two.
Without going into detail for obvious reasons, speculate what may be different but trust me, they're different.
WoW , COOL...: drool:
This is way more info, that has been released...
With the current official ordering guide, still showing it as an LTG , it really has to have a different designation, with MAJOR COMPONENT CHANGE...

And since the power rating is about the same as the ATS engine, I still believe that it's getting FORGED PISTONS, for durability...

Any engine running boost should require Forged Pistons although the Forged are run looser than are hypereutectics. Downside of the hypereutectics is that they are brittle and run hotter as they do run a tighter clearance than do the forged. Forged would be wise. And for Christs sake give the little 4T a tune it can utilize. A flat 325 hp rating would be a nice starting point. Make the owner of each choice proud they bought what fit their life..

Today I was told be Elite Engineering tech support that the 16 has "beefier" pistons than the previous LTG engines that were having problems...

I decided that I was going to order a 13 ATS piston and a 16 Camaro 2.0 piston to compare them, but I see they are the exact same part number... So that seems like it's probably another dead end. I wonder if it's true that the new pistons are beefed up, but they have replaced the old P/N for the older cars already. I don't have the ability to see if a part number has been changed or superseded by a new part number for a new part.

Agreed. There are so many high output 4cyl's...Golf R, Mustang Eco, STI, Ford RS, and the CLA45 AMG putting out a whopping 375.

I mean... Forged Pistons can't be that expensive for a T4... Any aftermarket direct swaps
