Well...even with the horsepower they have now, they'd be 13 second cars with just the amount of weight the car is going to lose.
That said, I'm hoping they can get the HP around 340ish and the TQ to at least 285 - 290. GM is working on a new line of V6s with the codename LGX....so we will see what that brings.

It's just crazy how much more HP we are getting out of our V6s. My 2001 Z-28 only produced 305 ponies.

Why? I'm curious as to why so many people are obsessed with a TTV6 going in the next Camaro.

I'm more interested in the TQ output and curve of the upcoming LGX.

I think we will see around 340-355 HP.

One thing I give credit to Ford for is offering a better price range for trim levels...to get a 400hp stock Camaro right now you have to all the way up the high $30s. |

That said, the LFX has 278 TQ which isn't bad, but far from its 323 peak HP. But the TQ curve is very flat....so that's a great attribute. I'd be happy with an engine that makes no more HP than the LFX, but considerably more TQ. Say something like 323hp/310 TQ would be awesome but I don't see that happening at all. I've stated this around the forums many times, but to me, what would get me the most excited is a high displacement V6 (3.7+) with all the goodies the LFX has (direct injection, cam phasing) but also with cylinder deactivation. I've read cylinder deactivation is much more difficult in a 60 degree engine versus the 90, but it can be done. Honda has it in the accord V6. So with a high displacement engine the 340+ HP should be achievable, as well as a higher tq number....say in the 290+ range. The 3.8 in the Hyundai Genesis makes 345/295 so I feel this number is realistic for sure. But the cylinder deactivation would give the engine a great highway mileage rating....so its a win win. Put it in sport mode and the engine never leaves V6 mode...otherwise it would go into 4 cylinder mode on highway cruising. I think an engine like this makes for a real good choice over a 4 cylinder turbo engine, as it would make much more peak HP and should get similar mileage. The only disadvantage it would have is the low and midrange TQ which the 4 cylinder turbo would have considerably more. I'd love something like this!

The base SS is low $30s so I don't know where you are getting that from. |

There's not really anything available other than the name. Not even really sure where that came from. The 2015 Colorado will still be using the LFX so the Camaro could be the first application of the LGX, if it exists and if GM chooses to use it.
