Change it every 3000 miles. You're better off not listening to the computer.

I change mine at 50% which is around 5000 miles. I am no oil expert. Changing it that often gives me a piece of mind...

I've never let mine get to zero%. I change it in the spring whether it needs it or not. If you are uncomfortable going to zero or 1 years time then by all means change it sooner. Follow your owners manual and you will retain warranty

Can not resist and I am sure that this has been discussed before but with todays engines there is no reason to have to change your oil every 3000 miles. Even if you are using standard oil, 3000 miles is just a waste of money IMO. If you are running Dexos 1(which is a synthetic blend) or full synthetic 5000 - 7500 should not harm your engine unless your racing on the track.

As far as the type of oil, everyone has their own opinion, just research and you will find what works for you.

If your worried about the condition of your car there are companies that provide oil analysis and can tell you if you need to change it or not. Though I personally would not follow the oil life monitor to read zero in my Camaro, I certainly am not going to change it every 3000 simply because that is what my dad always told me to do.

no.
3,000 if your are running conventional.

no more than 5,000 if synthetic....

but, that's just me.

I thought the Camaro came from the factory with Mobil 1 full synthetic. Am I wrong? I would still change every 5-8k miles.

If I remember correctly the ss comes full synthetic but the LT does not.

Thanks and I plan on using the oil that came in the car when bought Ill take it to the dealer and I did look at the owners manual and it said that the computer computes on how u drive it and the temperature and it's saying I still have 24% at 9200 miles and to me thats to much but I'm just going by the computer because if it messes up they can fix it lol

well I have 4389 miles on my "Bow". The oil life computes 92% and twice I've had taken it to the dealer for an oil change and said there is no need for it's still good. Still the same oil since Jun'09.

I'm planning on sticking to 5000 mi. 3000 is too few for synthetic unless you don't drive much. Oil life gauge is probably accurate but I'm more comfortable doing it every 5000.

The manual says change the oil every year or when the DIC says to (provided its not been more than a year). I believe a message will pop up to change your oil around 5%, but I was at about 40% when the first year went by. Just my opinion and I've stated this many times why would you trust anyone's opinion above what GM says?
