WTF are they doing with these in the holding yards
So I got my car yesterday. It was dropped at the dealer and it didn’t move till I took it home.
I was just putting on my lifts pads and saw this under the car. WTF are they doing at the holding lots. Parking them in mud pits?

Better mud than the cuts and scrapes my car suffered, according to the paperwork that was disclosed to me when I bought mine .

I live by fort wayne assembly and they have trucks parked everywhere. They are not all paved lots, they are parking in grass fields and stone lots. Surprised they are not washing them before shipping though.

I had it at the dealer yesterday just to give it a look over to make sure no damage.
It seems it didn't look as bad when it was in the air as when I was laying on the ground looking. Just glad nothing was damaged and shouldn't take me long to clean it all up under there.

I was up by the landing factory last week. Cars everywhere in the factory lot. Couldn’t tell if any were parked in the grass/mud

I told them to go ahead and wash it, but don't put any wax or anything on it. Props for getting your car "As shipped" though!

I worked at Saturn Corp for 12 years. When cars aren't sell or they have to do repairs or something else, the cars were first parked on the blacktop. Once they ran out of room they were parked wherever they could find a spot.
Lets say that they ran out of radios, production didn't stop. Cars were driven off the assembly line at car final and parked on the lots until radios started being shipped again. Then the repair guys would drive around installing the radios wherever they were. At times those guys were working 12 hr days 7 days a week.

Sad to hear that the factory may have been parking brand new cars on grass, which is much worse than plain mud, as the grass really encourages rusting of the chassis parts.
I had a friend who parked his brand new trailer on grass on his rural property. The trailer rusted very significantly within just a few months. The trailer manufacturer denied the warranty claim BECAUSE the trailer was parked longterm on grass. Makes me wonder what other hasty decisions were made during the current supply line issues.
