I for one don't believe the offer would NOT actually go through. You probably have a salesperson who does not know anything. He can agree to anything, but it must go through the manager. Dealers know how to make money if they can stay in business and overpaying for a car is not one of the things they will do unless they can overcharge you for one they are selling.

I have a 86 Ford Taurus station wagon if he wants it as well. I will take no less then 45 grand though. It comes equipped with many features such as but not limited to; Power window (the three others don't work), tires equipped with less then the ideal amount of lug nuts to hold them on to the axle, the aroma of cashews in the interior, lost treasures of atlantis between the seats and only one light on the exterior that works ( perfect for night driving).
anyway, let me know if he's interested this deal will not last.

The only way I could see a dealer offering that amount of money is if the offer was part of a sale of a new car. e.i. If you want to buy this new XXXXX car I have here, I'll give you $70k for what you have.
