Beyond frustrated

This probably isn't the right place for this post but I have to vent. I dropped my car off last Monday 3/26 to have my blower and DSX aux system installed. I was told the car would be finished by Friday 3/30. I called on Thursday 3/29 and was told they hadn't touched the car but would be starting on Friday and it would be ready Tuesday or Wednesday this week. Here we are on Tuesday and I call in and I am now being told that the shop owner is on vacation this week and they won't get to it till Monday 4/9. Meanwhile, I am paying daily for a rental which isn't cheap. I am so pissed right now I can't see straight. They will have had the car for 2 weeks on 4/9 and I will be out $500 for a rental. I could've dropped it off 4/9 and saved myself the money. Fudge!!!!!!!

If they haven't touched it go get the car and take it somewhere else. If you don't the headache will continue worse. A shop who doesn't communicate does not get my business

The catch 22 is that they are one of 3 shops within a 2 hour range from me that can do the install and tune. The 2 other shops can't get to my car until May/June. I am not comfortable having one shop do the install and remote tuning my car. I will ultimately want to get it dyno'd so I would rather just get everything done under 1 roof if that makes sense.

Maybe expand the range a bit for a better shop - I can promise things won't magically get better moving forward

Your experience raises some serious red flags. I personally would take it to another shop. I know it sucks waiting until May/June. I'm an incredibly impatient person, but a shop that doesn't communicate, makes false promises, and blows you off would make me question their integrity. I would cut my loses and find a trustworthy shop.

If you're not happy with the situation, pull the car out and find a better shop.

Or at least tell them you're going to, because it's costing you more and more by the day. Also explain you didn't hire them to rushedly put your car together.

A blower isn't that big of an install. 4 days should be enough time. That being said, if they are busy that can happen. Hard to know from the outside if they ran into un forseen events. From here vacation sounds weird to say the least.

On one hand you need to be patient for install+tune to all get buttoned together correctly. On the other a shop needs to be diligent and professional.

Dude. It's the bay area. Anyone can install it. Take it out and find a better shop.

Surprisingly there aren’t that many shops out here that can install AND tune your car under one roof. Let alone shops that specialize in late mode GM cars. I gave the owner a $500 deposit and he’s on vacation now so I can’t just go get it. At this point I’m kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place. I’m hoping at the very least he will work with me on the install price to cover the cost of the rental. I can wait, it’s just frustrating.
