How long before the Camaro pays for itself?

I was thinking on my way home from work how expensive it must be to develop a new car and I wondered how many Camaros they would need to sell just to break even on the development costs? What's the typical break even for a car?

at 51000 camaros and counting, averaging about 30k per camaro...their well into the billions already. im sure by the time they hit the 75000 mark they will have made back their initial investment and then some.

I doubt that.
G.M. is not making $30,000 per car. This car was under development for at least 3 years and "net" profit for G.M. for each Camaro is relatively small. After past and present expenses, it will take at least 2-3 years to get a return on the entire investment. Of course, all this is above my pay grade.

I work for a company that sells consumer and business products, theres a little more to it but you're basically correct.

Oh...I thought this thread was about making your Camaro go out and get a job to make its own payments. Or maybe using it as a Taxi or Limo.
