Suede Wearing
So I'm curious before I order/lot pick my ZL1, I want to know how the suede is wearing on the shifter and steering wheel for those who have it? My fear is having bad worn spots after a few years and just looking chitty!

1.5 years, 57k miles and its holding up ok. Not as good as new, but I figure its easy to replace either if it starts to bother me.

Hey listen to this
Quote:
My 1LE had the same issue. The suede looked worn. I mean really worn on top of the shifter and on top of the steering wheel. I took a fairly stiff tooth brush, new of course. I started brushing on the what I thought were wear spots. At first nothing, but after about 3 to 5 minutes the wear started to go away and the suede started to appear again. I did the whole shift lever where it 'seemed' worn, then the steering wheel. It looks like new now. No kidding. Now they have suede brushes for this but I believe the stiff tooth brush is better. doesn't take off much suede and can be used once a week. Still looks like new, 2 months later. Try it, what have you got to lose. Jim Let me know.

Leather looks perfect still, didn't cost me the extra 500 bucks.

Not happy with suede kit that came on mine. Shift knob already replaced once. Lord help you if your woman drives it with skin and tan lotions.

Mine was replaced around 15K miles but only cuz I knew they would replace it at no charge since they were doing other peoples on this site. I use a horse hair brush that the Adams Polishes use.

No problems with mine at all. Love the suede looks a lot better than leather!!! Got 6000 miles on the car.

Mine has 12,000 miles on it and last weekend I washed both the gear knob and the wheel with a cloth and soapy water, mainly to get the grime off the gear knob, and it came up like brand new! I was amazed.
I've had many cars with leather shifter knobs and they always wear. I was massively impressed with how the Alcantara faux suede has stood up. Cheers
