Performance shifting

Hello, is there a way to manually turn on performance shifting ? It always auto activates when I step on the car going on the freeway or inside city streets, and the bark it does while down shifting is just amazing to hear, I was wondering if there was am option to activate this mode whenever I want?

Do not believe so, essentially any two WOT shifts trigger it (maybe other criteria too). But as for the down shifting part, if you are in sport or track mode it should do that if you use the paddles.

I really suck at doing this, can you explain to me how should I do with paddle shifter? What rpm or speed to down shift at etc

just hit the paddles and see what happens.... the computer will keep you from breaking it.

Yep there's a rev limiter, just don't go dropping 3 gears when you are already running 4500 rpm.

If you're slowing down just to slow down due to traffic or a light etc, the computer will auto-downshift for you.

If i'm playing with manual shifting (you can use the stick too...which is way easier than the paddle shifters if you're on a road with turns), then i only downshift if i want to pass or pick up speed after a turn. Otherwise I let the computer downshift on it's own.

The computer will deny a shift with the paddles if it is going to hurt the transmission. It won't even allow you to downshift anymore until your RPMs drop. There's also a mode on the A8's that if you're in regular D mode and you want to downshift, without putting the shifter into M you can just click the paddles and it'll switch it into manual mode. Also, if you press the downshift paddle and then press and hold it down, the computer will shift into the lowest gear it can without hurting the transmission. I do it all the time when I'm coming to a stop. It sounds glorious

Simply put, the computer won't let you harm the transmission when manually shifting.

I also just learned you can take it out of manual mode (engaged with the paddles) by pulling and holding a paddle for a couple seconds.

The computer wont let you harm the engine (over-rev) or the transmission.
