Order Question

Hey guys, I asked one of the local Chevy dealers what the wait time was on a 2SS with the 1LE and sent them a build. After a couple hours the salesman said that the ordering manager entered it as a "sold order" I don't know what that means but I don't have an order number. He said technically its an order but he didn't get a deposit or anything from me. Something don't sound right?

Any advice or idea what they may have done?

If he can't give you a GM workbench printout, look elsewhere...I can suggest some dealers in FL.

I was thinking about placing another order with the dealer I bought my truck from since the first one didnt require a deposit or anything anyways.

I will ask them for the workbench printout. When I asked if there was an order number he said not until GM picks the order up so hopefully he dont say something similar about the workbench printout.

Definitely doesn't sound right, if they placed your order they would have an order number and all dealers I spoke to required a deposit of some kind.

I agree, if he input the order, "sold" there is an order number. 6 digit alphanumeric.

All,
I started to shop local chevy dealers in my area 50-mile radius the last week of March. A Camaro 2SS-1LE Vivid Orange 6-M SR, S-pads, Nav, Aluminum pedals, Strut brace, car cover. My first dealer gaffed me off. The second dealer where I bought 2 Toyota's from also sells Chevy. This dealership is outside 50 miles and a ferry ride away. I talked to the ordering dude on the last Monday of March, and he stated for me to send my build and Thursday was allocation day and he stressed to me that it's all about allocation to include model and trim specific. Thursday comes and I expect to never hear from them as the first dealership did. Thursday end of day I get a call and build guy said he had 1 allotment for a Camaro 2SS, told build guy place the order. That was 30 March 23, Then was wondering about constraints especially the 1LE-A1Y. 31 March I had an Email stating good news, so I called build guy and he said The whole order was accepted by GM and gave me my Order workbench # and took my deposit. 3 April another email from build guy stating I had a TPW of the first week in May. So, I guess it all comes down to allocation and the dealer, also I stated I'm not playing the markup game. Build guy said no worries.
Cheers!

OP, your dealer should have given you an order number.

Sticky thread on the top has a comprehensive summary of the whole process.

It's nice to get the workbench and ordered number, but if the dealer doesn't have an allocation, you don't have shit. You could sit at 1100 for months.

^^^^ This!! No allocation means no order... been there and done that. Order can sit months and months then wither and die....

I was at 1100 for 230 something days, never did get a 22MY but I was late to the party and didn't order until Aug 2022. Dealer at the time stated he had 14 other ZL1 orders ahead of mine.

So I ordered a 2SS 1LE 6pd towards the end of February 2023 with the Chevrolet dealership in the dealership group I work for. I'm a Virtual Business Manager for the entire group and I placed my order knowing I would have some wait time but now I'm concerned about my order not being accepted by the scheduled June cutoff. I thought 4 months for acceptance should be more than enough time but am I wrong? I pretty sure I wouldn't want to redo another order for a 2024 but Idk...

An order number is one of the two keys parts, the other being an allocation.

As others have stated, you could sit at "1100" status forever and "technically its an order" so to speak.

They didn't do you any favors that's for sure.

Look into allocations for the dealer and/or constraints on your order.

Just about any 1LE is heavily constrained, last I knew, but it's fluid, too.
