I'm not an opponent of chrome, mossman, but on your SIM car the black looks really good. Nice job! The black bowtie works well too. Now loose those suitcase mufflers.

LOL....they're on the list...but it's in order of 'priority'. Power upgrades are in place, suspension is 'in progress', aesthetics are next (other than simple DIY). The mufflers at this point are almost purely aesthetic (I may take them off and paint them black in the interim...

You and I obviously think very much alike. I was going to call the dealer on Monday and see about ordering the 'CAMARO' emblems. Honestly, I would like to find a 'black chrome' for those guys...so we'll see what I come up with. How much did the replacements cost? And, what kind of prep work did you do on them. My wife mentioned today that I should paint them, but the thought of sanding (roughing up to ensure adhesion) all those little letters makes me cringe....

I've done a ton of de-chroming to my vehicles and find that most body shops use SEM Trim Black on stuff like this. I hit the part with a red Scotch Brite pad, 2 light coats of SEM Plastic Adhesion Promoter and then 3 light coats of Trim Black.

I think it depends on the car...
Nexus 6 obviously made the right call for his car...he's got lots of other gloss black (stripes)...so it makes sense. Where as, on my car...there is no gloss black...only flat black (window trim, rear bumper valence, etc, etc, etc) IMO, the flat black just kind of 'disappears' causing the attention to be focused on other areas as opposed to a silly little trim ring...

Good point, I think I'm going to go with the flat black, my stripes is CGM so I think the gloss black would clash. Cant wait to do my mods

Thanks for the tip. I'll be doing this also on mine when she gets in. I'll also have that panel between the tail lights and just under them painted black too.
