Let them first make the Z28.

After that they can do whatever the hell they want.

Saying screw the weight just add more hp/tq is stupid. 3400-3500 is a very reasonable number! Then you would really be able to see its performance from the LSX engine.
Alpha Camaro will probably transition over to the Gen V V8s anyways.

LOL, you should have started with the V8 this time around?!?!

No sorry I highly doubt with the regulations the way they are that there will be a bigger badder engine, hopefully with a lighter car the next gen will still be faster and meaner but not because of more power. When I bought this car, I viewed it as possibly the last time I could buy a traditional American muscle car, i.e. a large car with a huge engine that made a car so large perform. That is not the future with the EPA around.

My reasonable hope is an Alpha platform rear wheel drive car that weighs about 3400 lbs with a DI V8 probably back to the 350 size range (5.7) hopefully with new technology this will still be around 400 bhp. I would cry if the top engine was a turbo/SC V6. Actually if they got the weight below 3400lbs I think that car would be pretty awesome!

How many times has this question been beaten down. The minimum between redesigns will always be a four years. You won't see a change in generations before that time line only minor fascia and interior updates at the most, even then it's pretty unlikely.

I'd like to see a closer representation to the concept sketch (lower and wider) with Hyper drive.

That will never happen, models are considered old these days by 5 years, by 10 it would just become stale.

I wont be shocked, sad..but not shocked, if the V8's are no longer an option and we're left with supercharged or turbocharged V6's as engine options in the SS.

These new regulations that are coming down the pike are serious folks, very serious. They're pretty freaking strict and if V8's are an "option" they'll carry a massive, massive tax (like $4000+) to help GM pay for "fines" from the government for daring to produce a V8 engine.
Don't be so sure thats really going to happen. Firstly there is nothing in any legislation coming specifically about displacement, cylinders, or horsepower. All of it is based around efficiency and mileage. Considering what has been done in the past 30 years of V8's you don't have much to worry about. You would be amazed at the stuff that was supposed to be in the legislation as far back as the 70's that has never happened. It gets squashed or negotiated out. All the automakers, foreign and domestic are big political contributors. Basically much of the stuff we are just getting hit with today was supposed to happen by 1980.
